Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho sent scouts to watch the Dutch midfield hard man in Man City’s Champions League game against Villarreal.

Nigel de Jong has emerged as a shock £20million target for Real Madrid.

League game in Spain against Villarreal.

De Jong, 26, was disappointed when talks on a new contract at the Etihad Stadium stalled in
the summer.

Negotiations on a new four-year deal are due to resume in the new year, with a view to De Jong signing an improved contract at the end of the season.

But Real are now watching De Jong, a £17m signing from Hamburg.

Mourinho is a big fan of holding midfi elders and his current pair are Xabi Alonso and Germany’s
Sami Khedira.

Alonso is already acquainted with De Jong – he was the victim of a chest-high challenge by the Dutchman in last
year’s World Cup Final.

At Porto, he had a normal CM who could pass instead of DM. At Chelski, he tried to convert Mikel( an Am at that time) into his anchorman, then he decided to play Ballack there. At Inter, he had Cambiasso, he played him as passing CM, the African guy only came on when Mou wanted to secure the game. At RM, he has Lass but he doesn't play him whenever Khedira is fit
Bottom line, Mou wouldn't bother signing a pure DM. If we're desperate Pepe could do whatever De Jong could

We need a more than just a pure DM if we were to get one.

I would be worried if they signed him, an actual defensive presence in midfield who can tackle vs us.

Or Mou realizes that Madrid has Ozil and kaka as his playmakers and needs someone to provide them with cover.

His personnel at Madrid is much, much more creative than his other gigs. You don't need another guy with creative skills when you have Sahin and Alonso as your mids + Kaka/Ozil as the AMs + Di Maria + Cr7 + Higuain + Benz.

A ball recovering midfield is exactly what the team requires.

Lass would clearly not stay and Pepe is one of the best CBs around.

i know pepe is a cb, but he's been used in that role before.

Pepe is the CB Mou prob won't try that again he doesn't seem to want to break the Pepe Ramos partnership.

Well, he would fit right into the Madrid mindset for DM's and how to stop Barca- break dem legs.

Would be a shame for such a terrible, talentless scum bag of a player to come to La Liga and start ruining careers, but that is probably what Mou wants...
