Not even then. Whatever the interpersonal problems between manager and player, there needs to be some semblance of professionalism, which this completely broke down.

I agree. He should be docked a year's pay and forced to play for the reserves.

Sarri said after the game it was a "big misunderstanding". He thought Kepa was injured, but he only had cramp.

Not sure how this fact wasn't communicated properly on the pitch.

I don't think I have ever seen a player refuse a substitution, not live anyway. Sure I can search for an example out here. Also, wouldn't Kepa write in his native Basque and not what looks like (to the untrained eye mind you), regular Spanish?

Kepa is an absolute joke. granted that sarri hasnt been able to keep chelsea under control but my god... thats a total disgrace thinking he can do whatever he wants ...

thats what happens when u give too much control to a player. now im thinking its not even sarri fault to why he lost the dressing room.

its a disgrace ... im glad that we have gattuso as a coach.... XD but in alll seriousness kepa can come in twitter and say i did this for my team... but who is he to decide whether he plays or not. this really sucks forget about being chelsea fan just watching it made me feel these clowns are just making other players follow the suit ...

Honestly the kepa accident has been blown way out of proportions. It wasn't a tactical substitution, it wasn't a midfielder for a striker or even krul for cilessen 2 world cups ago. It was just an injury substitution, and if the injured player is so certain about being able to play I'm fine with him making a case about not wanting to be substituted.
The whole thing looked worse than it is because of the misscomunication that led to sarri's reaction.

Thing is kepa had an injury midweek that made him miss the EL game, and 5 minutes earlier the play was stopped because kepa was hurt. So I understand why Sarri was so sure that kepa was injured and needing a substitution.
But he was fine during the penalties. Got unlucky with the aguero one.

He's a goalkeeper and not an outfield player so we couldn't sideline him and play 30 seconds 10v11 while he assess the situation with the doctors and sarri. The only communication was shouting 50 meters away from each other which can lead to MISCOMUNICATION

Horse shit lol, that is horse shit and you know it Katy. Sarri wanted to sub out Kepa (for reasons only Sarri could tell you), Caballero was literally standing next to the 4th official who was about to be ready to put up Kepa's number. Kepa, being the lil prick that he apparently is, disobeyed his manager's order. I repeat, a player disobeyed in front of God and the whole world watching, Sarri's orders.

The only miscommunication I am seeing is that Chelsea and its PR team think people watched that incident with their eyes closed.
