Besides the god awful defending in the first half, the big issue for me was how we conceded the ball in the second half. We played like a team clinging on to a 1-0 lead when it was 2-2 and there for the taking.

It's infuriating because this game was entirely winnable. Four big chances in the first half, including at least two sitters that we missed. A Chelsea team just as convincing at the back as we were. The balance wasn't right at all.

So this is points thrown away for me. It's good that Emery is changing things in response to the game situation, but that second half was too much.

I am not sure Ozil fits Emery's system or style.

It was a decent showing but damn 0 points out of these two games sucks. In the next few calmer games I expect improved finishing because you don’t get to win games with such crappy finishing.

Defensively I don’t expect big improvements this season because our personnel just sucks. Sure we probably won’t concede 2-3 every game but we will alwaya look like conceding with these guys.You look at other teams and they have big, fast, strong guys in defence meanwhile we field weak, soft melts like Bellerin, Mustafi, Monreal etc... you can’t really work much with these guys in the Premier League.

Monreal is doable but good lord Bellerin, his side got skin bad when Hazard came on. At one point, he was walking back while Mhki doing dirty work.

These two games could be a blessing in disguise. Better find the flaws right now rather than later against big teams in the season especially for a new manager. Having the window still open would have helped a lot though.

Bellerin sucks and Lichtsteiner should replace him already.

I don't know what's up with him but his pace has definitely dropped. Without it, he can't correct his positional errors or make up for his poor reaction time.

nah RG, Emery clearly told the boys to sit deeper in the 2nd half. Which was a good decision I think, but we had little offensive effort which was the bad part.

It's all about learning to play the ball out of the back now. We need Leno in goal, and we need to move the ball quicker out into the midfield and into the flanks.

Ramsey is useless as a midfielder... he shouldn't even be called a midfielder. Not sure what he is.

It’s true, XHAKA makes our midfield tick. Despite his flaws in defence, he’s the one who can break a press with his passing and is one of our best passers in midfield. Torreira was bought to mitigate those flaws.

Our best midfield is when Torreira, Guendouzi and XHAKA all play together. That way you can afford to play Aubameyang/Lacazette/Ozil without being terrible defensively. Ramsey can be useful against park the bus teams because you can be a bit more attacking minded so he comes in for Guendouzi in those games.

I think this is what Emery will do once Torreira/XHAKA are back to full fitness.

But yeah I agree Aubameyang has sucked in these two games, he really needs to get that swagger back.
