Yea i agree with that.
Some of those dialogues were straight cringe. Like trying way too hard to be edgy.
Combat is basically COD combat but more clunky.

Looks wank tbh. I was already put off by the cyberpunk setting but I'm pretty much out on this one after watching that video.
The writing makes me cringe more than when I played Watch Dogs 2.

The coolest thing was the different approaches to the quests. I feel like a lot of games advertise choice but ultimately force you into the same situations regardless, whereas Cyberpunk seems to have genuine choices.
On the other hand, the writing was awful. Obviously it's only a short amount of gameplay, but if the characters weren't swearing every other word they were throwing out exposition about something.
I'm indifferent to the combat. Looks like standard gun play.
I wouldn't worry about the writing tbh, the pre release for Witcher 3 was meh.
It's going to be very 80s Cyberpunk esque but I doubt it will be bad.
Combat was my biggest concern before the end, some of the higher level stuff looks fun and way beyond what I was expecting.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
"Since many of the assets and mechanics in the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 are most likely to be modified, we initially decided to show this gameplay only to media. Elements like gunplay (both in terms of visuals and how RPG stats influence it), netrunning, car physics, or the game’s UI — everything’s pretty much still in the playtest phase and we felt uneasy about publicly committing to any particular design," game director Adam Badowski said, explaining CD Projekt's initial reluctance to release the gameplay video to the public. "Animation glitches, work-in-progress character facial expressions, early versions of locations—all this made us hesitant to release what you’re about to see."
"However, we are also well aware that many of you want to see what the media saw. Although this is probably not the same game you’ll see on your screen when we launch, we still decided to share this 48-minute video with you. This is how Cyberpunk 2077 looks today. Let us know what you think!"
I'm surprised they showed anything tbh, the reactions on here and else where tells you how little the public knows how to react to a working progress game.
It's always why Rockstar don't show anything until 3 months before release, this game is about 18 months out if we're lucky and people are acting like it's coming out before Christmas lol.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Gentlemen let it be known the theme IS Cyberpunk which brings in flashes of the 80 inspired thematic to it. And within that genre you have very cheesy lines and in the highly acclaimed writing of Witcher world you had the same, as the world cannot be this serious though I do prefer a darker theme. Reminds of Deus Ex if anything as I throughly wished this was 3rd person given 1st is far too intimate but it may work with some refining and customisation.
Graphics whilst not revolutionary but what they do have are beautiful character models and more so, an easily visible amount of depth and attention to detail to them.
CDPR is a Polish company so worried about their lack of exposure and scale to such things to which Rockstar has but then again all those companies were rather bland in their early stages whilst CDPR is a knockout.
Can go either way though the hype behind this will weigh down upon them.
Very much want this to succeed.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
I'm not too familiar with cyberpunk's conventions but in a narrative-driven game I expect more variety. From that demonstration, I could barely distinguish the dialogue from the woman V was doing the deal with from the big guy that came barging in at the end. Just because it's conventional doesn't make it any good.
Of course, I say that knowing that it's only one part of an unfinished game, that there's a lot more to see, that things will change, etc. I'm not condemning the game on this alone, just pointing out that I'm not a fan of what I've heard so far.

It's best just not to react too much, as they said multiple times it probably going to be a vastly different game by release.
But I knew this would happen, games don't get live demos 2 years before release for a reason. I like what I'm seeing but it's not worth analysing much.

My posts wasn't aimed at you, just a general reaction to what I'm seeing tbh. Most of the media did the say dialogue was slightly cheesy and cringe which is what I saw tbh.
But like I said Witcher 3 dialogue looked meh in pre release trailers so I trust them, if one thing they've proven is it's good dialogue.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
CDPR have already said the game's main bulk is complete, as in you can do a whole playthrough from start to finish. What game developers usually do after this is polishing the game; the animations, 3D models, image resolutions, lighting system, sound effects along with bug fixes and optimisation for consoles and PC setups.
Therefore I wouldn't be so hopeful. From the things that don't change much from pre-alpha to the actual release (or a game 'going gold'), it is the voice acting and the general story line which seem to be lacking from this playthrough, supposedly being from one of the more finished/polished sections of the game.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
That doesn't mean anything tbh, God of War said the same 16 months before release.
They said repeatedly during the video that it's nowhere near a finished product, if you think it's anywhere near the finished product you clearly don't get how game development works.
Hell the CEO of the company said most aspects are still in testing phase and will likely change. This game is a minimum 18 months from release, it's not even close from the finished Article in any aspect.
But discussions like these is why I'm surprised they released it at all.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Picking at the storyline seems strange too tbh, can't think of a mission in a game which is as extensive as that.
Especially one which is clearly quite insignificant, the writing doesn't seem great but I don't think anyone praised it or consider it good enough.
But like I've said repeatedly Witcher 3s pre release wasn't either, it's best not to pay attention to stuff like that in such small slices.
If the game was coming out in October I'd get it but it's not.

It's probably not going to be released within the next 12 months or so and people are already judging it.... It looks pretty good for a work in progress. Can't say any more at this point.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
I think the gunplay features and gameplay alternatives seem like a lot of fun. If the cheesy dialogues and excessive swearing puts you off, then the heavily 80s inspired, Cyberpunk theme likely isn't for you. That said, this seemed more like a demo of some of the game's core features, rather than an attempt to showcase a deep narrative experience that may, or may not be there. It wouldn't make sense for them to reveal much of the actual story of the game, far ahead of the game's release.

Agreed, I was quite concerned early on when they were just using the pistol and hiding behind cover but some of the stuff later on with dodges, slides, Mantis blades, shooting off walls and hacking into the cyberspace looked cool IMO.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Exactly, you can't escape cheesy dialouges in such a huge game just like Rockstar couldn't escape them in GTA V.
I'm personally not a huge fan of the Cyberpunk world but I'll definitely give this one a go. Looks pretty fun and open, which is what I look for games lately, and CDPR offers openness.
The game appears to be a tier above its rivals, CDPR promised it'll set the bar higher for RPGs and I believe them.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Looked like a Fallout 4 with worse graphics, and slightly better game play. Although it looked quite scripted for an open world rpg, maybe too scripted, and again didn't see jump animation which is a tell sign of the design. Not too conviced that this is W3 rather than W2. Also driving looked abysmal. Hype dead.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Can't speak to anything else but there was double jumping towards the end so I'd be quite surprised if you can't jump normally
Also they've said the design is very vertical so it would be pretty shit if you can't jump tbh.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
This is not even a demo, it's just a gimpse and still far from the final product which has been underlined many times throughout the video.
They shouldn't have showed any gameplay at all because clearly people are stupid and jump to conclusions.

I think a lot of people just assume that what they saw is more substantial than it actually is, due to the length of the clip. I'd be surprised if it's nothing more than a fraction of the main storyline. The video basically focused on a few of the gameplay features, but what seemed to get most of the attention was what little we saw of a story/characters. I'm not really worried that they'll get those two things wrong.
It also seems that a lot of people aren't familiar with the retro, Cyberpunk theme. I see no other reason why people would react to "cheesy" writing. Cheesy one-liners was the shit, back then.
