Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Look, a CDPR dev told me recently that they'd just clocked a 100-hour week. Another (former) dev just told me they saw some of their friends there and they looked "physically ill." So kindly gtfo with the "but but but I work long hours too" responses

Absolutely disgraceful.

CDPR and upper management being incompetent shocker.
I've known this for like 3 years now.

With that said i don't get worried by the games quality by this delay like some have.
It sounds more like a Upper management not planning for this outcome than anything and the game sounds done.
It's more sad that developers have to basically ruin their lives than anything else to get it out.

Regardless of whether or not Jason Schreier is right in his criticism of CDPR, he’s been going above and beyond in scrutinizing them lately. This seems personal

There's a reason people from Naughty Dog and Santa Monica hate his guts.
He's good at his job but he's not a very nice person.

He went above and beyond on Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Bioware in the past too. He specialize in exposing shitty work life balance and working conditions of game devs. Hell, he wrote a book about it.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Also i should say the upper management of CDPR is an absolute mess, I've known this for quite some time because i play Gwent and you kinda get to know more how a company truly operates when you consistently play a live service game and involved within the community.
So none of this is really that surprising, i just hope the devs get to release the game to their standard without at the detriment to their health.
The weirdest thing today for me is people attacking developers, it's never okay but even if it was the people to blame here is upper management and their absolutely inept time management and planning not the developers.

Didn't they claim their game "went gold" a few weeks ago?
Going gold has meant anything for years.

No response from CDProjekt yet, though they brought back the release date on their Twitter account after stealthily removing it a few days ago.
I think we should expect another delay to be announced soon. rumors has it that the game runs abysmally on the base Xbox One version, i don't think 20 days is enough to fix that.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Reddit thread on the 16 hour previews.
Main Take-aways from IGN:
Driving around Night City was a highlight of their experience.
UI is not as polished as they'd like (Quest log specifically)
Do not expect a combat loop like Witcher or Fallout 4. It is slow and very much an RPG
Combat is not a highlight, but a filler. Do not go in expecting top tier combat

Isn't this very contradictory? Like isn't slow and RPG very much what those games are?

Watching the IGN preview i get the sense that they were expecting a fast paced FPS game, no idea why would they think like that though, the game clearly states it's a RPG first and foremost.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
The combat comments are a shame. You can have an RPG and still have great combat. Not sure why one has to choose between the two.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Tbh combat have never been their strong suit, Witcher 1 was atrocious, Assassins of Kings was clunky and unresponsive and Wild Hunt was serviceable at best, safe to say my expectations are low on that front.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077
They're learning how to do combat. Bioware was the same with Mass Effect. First one was shite, Andromeda had great combat.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077
Really am hoping CDPR pull of a success in this because I know a lot of people (oddly) are wanting it to fail.
My impressions are that it is one of the most ambitious games out there but doesn't seem to be executed too well. No surprise given this is the first time they are doing something like this let alone First-Person.
I hope a few tweaks and adjustments will improve thoughts on the combat and driving either way.
I see it getting the reception Death Stranding did of sorts but not 9+.
