Even though Germany are arguably still the strongest national team around they may be plagued with one too many fitness concerns - in goal, in central defense, on the left wing, etc. and they still haven't found a center forward to deliver on the big stage for them the way Miroslav Klose used to.

Find a single German Forward, the only Bundesliga representant is Lewandowski.

Werner is very fast but not experienced enough for big tournaments. The only guy who has proven anything is gramps Gomez, that's why I consider him as a striker. The flaws won't be exposed against trash tier teams but probably in the elemination round vs good defences. Someone like Sane or Schürrle is nice to have on the bench in case we are trailing in the 80th minute or so. We don't need zillions of midfielders.

Reus isn't the Reus we all remember anymore. Draxler barely played for PSG. Sane CLEARLY outperformed all of them this season... and played a lot. The guys with a lot of mileage tend to look tired in these pre-WC friendlies.

I agree with Babun... you take Sane. He's dynamic. There are always games where you need a difference maker to come in the game. Germany just took a joker away from themselves.

And it's not like Germany has a million proven scorers on the team (Mueller was shit this year and has been for the past two).

I think the attack should be the least of our worries, Reus, Werner, Müller, Özil, all capable of creating and scoring goals at the big stage and Gomez too with his experience. My worry is the incapability of keeping a clean sheet and the inclusion of a GK who is not and will likely be ready physically or mentally for the World Cup.

He's not competing against scrubs though. The people nominated have simply outperformed him and are of the highest quality. It would be unfair not to take them just because he has some mysterious quality he has never shown when playing for Germany. We're not talking about any football team but the strongest national football team in the world. You want in you have to perform.
