Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
I didn't see that quote, I was told that he said he was white so if that's wht they're referring to than that's my bad.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Except he didn't say that. He was asked "have you been the subject of racism?" And he responded with "Never, it's not like I'm black, right?"
From there to pretending to be white there is a big gap, which you can only get to if you apply the US' 1 drop rule.
Also I don't understand why he'd think black people are the only ones subjected to racism. He could still experience it lol

There's no redemption for this clerical fascist POS
He's never going to be happy, he'll continue to have a miserable life, he can keep praying all he wants, and there's no heaven for him either
His bad character has been showing on the pitch for everyone to see

In Brazil race is not an identity like it is in the US (or at least, not anywhere as much), it's more of a descriptor
you are showing your Americanism clearly here lol... again as BC said, race is not perceived and judged the same way in other countries as it is in America

You need to get up to date, it's called indentifying nowadays, not pretending.

Maybe you set the standards too high and we shouldn't expect rich spoiled kids who barely finish primary school and play footy instead to be role models, activists or some kind of purists..

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
I'm mostly with BC, however one must admit the influence of Western media, particularly the fascist so-called "left" in the US in expanding their agenda to the neighbouring countries, particularly in Brazil.
For many years the blacks, pardos and whites had been living in south America in peace. While we can't deny the higher degree of affluence of those of white background due to the events in history, race had not been an issue in Brazil until triggered by the US media. Now you're hearing the echoes of the American "left" in Brazilian leftist media, dividing particularly the blacks from the rest of the demography and words like "priding your African heritage" becoming more common whereas until a couple of years ago everyone was just Brazilian and their ethnic background was trivial and mostly not cared about by anyone.
I say "left" because my parents are both leftists, true leftists with strong socialist values whom things like free speech are sacred to them, unlike the current "left" which cares about nothing but shutting down anyone who believes differently to them.

lmao I don't want to derail this thread about race but just bc other countries "ignore" race it definitely is an issue outside of America lolEl Gunner wrote:Clutch wrote:It doesn't matter, neymar is not "white" even if he personally believes he is whiteBarrileteCosmico wrote:Eh, I wouldn't be so quick to apply US race-based conventions (which are frankly pretty fucked up) the rest of the world. Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
there is not an American left. The democrats pretend to be leftists but there is no one in congress who hold leftist values besides maybe Bernie and he's barely leftist and he's not even a Democrat. This rhetoric of the fascist left is a talking point from the far right loldanyjr wrote:I'm mostly with BC, however one must admit the influence of Western media, particularly the fascist so-called "left" in the US in expanding their agenda to the neighbouring countries, particularly in Brazil.

You're joking, right? Most of Latin American society is essentially a race-based cast system Just because they don't throw colorful racial slurs around like they do in the US doesn't mean racism isn't a thing over there.
Using Brazil as an example of racial harmony is especially hilarious. We're talking about a slave colony that more or less abandoned its black majority population after emancipation and proceeded to hand all the fertile lands in the South to newly arrived European immigrants

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
I will not entertain these comments by posting a direct reply. There is no "race-based cast [sic] system" in Brazil much like there isn't systematic racism in the US. I am not going argue with leftist conspiracy theorists. A "slave colony" that had happened hundreds of years ago isn't proof that racism is present hundred years after.
Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
It's actually us who shouldn't entertain takes regarding racial relations in Brazil from some Argentine-American white guy. elitedam, the only actual Brazilian here, had the right response by simply laughing at you

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
Obviously Brazil struggles with racism as does every mixed society that I know of. All I meant is that its a different sort than the US kind and one cannot simply apply US-based thinking to other countries blindly.
I'll just leave this here and let actual studies on the subject speak for themselves.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
A lot of ppl are saying its blessing in disguise, PSG are just better balanced without him? I dunno would have preferred him over one more scrub midfielder like Ruiz/Danilo MNM now becomes just MM, but they seem to be on fire so it could be enough. Need the rest of the team to stop leaking goals.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
I checked out Neymar's wiki page and see that the most league games he's played in a single season for PSG is just 22. And an ankle surgery now that he's in his 30's... I'm calling it; he's going to be in decline from now on

His numbers have been really good this season, but he already slowed down in terms of pace and dribbling.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
@casci... his numbers SEEM good mainly because he started the first month of the season on absolute fire. But then, nothing of value.
Same issues as always... overdribbling, emotional wreck, cannibalizing the ball, etc.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
Neymar not working with Pep was a big missed opportunity in his career. Pep would have cut the stupid shit from his game, and Neymar's production would've skyrocketed.
There are some players who need more freedom to play at their best, but I honestly think Neymar would've benefitted from more specialization. He was a poor man's inefficient Messi.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
He had something like 50+ G/A in 15/16 iirc, would rarely miss good chances. He was very efficient in the right system and with the motivation, going to PSG was almost like semi-retirement, probably just wanted that cheque.

Even in 14/15 he was quite efficient too. I remember even writing a post back then thinking Neymar would go the CR route and be a ruthless winger. Instead he tried to copy Messi after the Messi injury in 2016 where he had the main spotlight for 2 months. It's shaped his career since then.

Re: Official: Neymar signs for PSG
He was extremely good in his first 1.5 years at PSG too... like incredible. But, like most Brazilian stars, unfortunately, the lifestyle started catching up to him. You can't party all night long, all the time, and stay at the same level athletically. As soon as he got to his late 20s, injuries happened and he looked slower. Remember he looked like a fat pig to start 2021-2022.
Extreme sense of entitlement too. I don't like him because I feel like he's cheated football fans by not taking care of himself.
