Unbelievable there are already sack watches. This guy got a top 4 finish with an average Chelsea squad full of green players. He deserves an undisputed full season of tranquility after pulling off that miracle.

What is that even
He spent most of the season in the top 4 and no one said anything. Now he's 3 points off the top 4 wit half the season left to play and he's done for?

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Not that I think your points are necessarily "wrong", but you're not painting a full picture here
He's 3 points off the top 4 in terms of Tottenham being 4th. He's played a game more, however. Furthermore, City are a game behind Tottenham (although tied on points). Assuming they win (which perhaps shouldn't be something we assume, but it is Manchester City after all) they'll go to 32 points and 4th place.
Saying Chelsea are 3 points behind 4th is accurate to the actual table, but in all likelihood, with results going as we expect them to, they're more like 6 points behind 4th and a game ahead of 4th place. A potential 9 points behind 4th if City won that game in hand.
Or, as put earlier, Chelsea are 3 points above Arsenal. While I think there are issues with Arteta's Arsenal stylistically/mentally beyond just the results that have had people concerned...the overall feeling that Arteta should be sacked was based mostly on the results. It's difficult for me to justify that Arteta should be sacked while Lampard is given a free pass based on a difference of 3 points.
I won't say Lampard should be sacked right now. But he's on the hot seat. If Chelsea are looking to finish top 4 again, that dream is fading very quickly. They're on track for 58 points as it stands, good for 7th most years, and a full 8 points behind their total last year.

I also think these young club legends do deserve longer time to see if they can make it, but the problem is his team doesnt seem to be on an upward trajectory? They just have too many obvious problems as many has said already. Time for him to learn fast I guess or else

Seems like Tuchel will take over from him. Did not see that coming at all.
Chelsea are going to have a difficult season. Changing managers mid season is a dangerous trajectory. It can go very very wrong and I do not understand why Tuchel is still regarded so highly or there are simply no managers left who are good enough to take over from Frank.

Missed opportunity if they don't get Allegri. Would do wonders for them and for what is worth Chelsea always finds success with Italian managers.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Chelsea board are the biggest cunts in football. Obvious businessmen, understand nothing about football.
Sacked di Matteo after winning them CL while he was 4 points behind City
And now sack the club legend who got them top four spot in what looked like an impossible feat during the transfer-ban.
I'd say good riddance for Lampard, he deserves to coach somewhere where he is appreciated. Imagine if Ole and Farteta coached Chelsea, wouldn't have lasted a month.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Relationship with Marina Granovskaia deteriorated
— The Athletic UK (@TheAthleticUK) January 25, 2021
Players 'ignored' by Lampard
Cech involved in planning successor
Rangnick offered interim role but turned it down
Tuchel to come in #CFC
@SJohnsonSport @David_Ornstein @honigstein @liam_twomey @AdamCrafton_
Lampard’s relationship with influential director Marina Granovskaia deteriorated.
Ralf Rangnick was offered interim job last week for four months but turned it down.
Calls were made in recent weeks to sound out Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann.
Leicester game was tipping point and morning after spent trying to finalise successor.
Lampard shook players hands and thanked them for efforts under him after Leicester match.
Petr Cech involved in talking to new stars’ agents as form dipped.
Some players complained about lack of tactical instruction and not being spoken to for months.
Desire to re-sign Declan Rice annoyed his bosses.
The dressing room felt manager showed no empathy and were hurt by his public criticism.
Lampard would have walked out had he been working for any club other than Chelsea.
Tensions behind the scenes really began to emerge during the January transfer window 12 months ago. Lampard asked for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was considering leaving Emirates Stadium at that juncture, and Ajax’s attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech. Neither arrived that month.
It was at this juncture that Mauricio Pochettino, who had been fired by Tottenham in November 2019, and RB Leipzig coach Nagelsmann were being mentioned as a potential “plan B”.
Things were becoming more tense with Granovskaia and one of the biggest points of contention was the treatment of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. “They clashed over Kepa. Lampard put in a request for a replacement and was told he should try putting his arm around Kepa, to help build his confidence. Lampard was insistent though.”
Lampard wanted the club to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and pushed for him again ahead of January. But some at the club had reservations about re-signing the player who was released from the academy as a teenager.
In December The Athletic were told: “He needs to stop pushing for Rice or he’ll lose his job. The hierarchy are very wary about the potential embarrassment of buying back an academy reject at huge expense.”
Of the six players to join, only Ben Chilwell was a Lampard target.
Plan was not only to acquire Rice, who Lampard felt could be converted into a top centre back as well as using him as a defensive midfielder, but also to buy James Tarkowski from Burnley. Defenders earmarked to go were Fikayo Tomori, Marcos Alonso, and Rudiger. There was even talk that Lampard was open to the idea of captain Cesar Azpilicueta departing.
After the Manchester City game, Roman became “very, very unhappy”. ( After the season relationship between Roman and Lampard was "strong."
Tuchel was reluctant to come midway through the season initially but was eventually persuaded, having almost taken the Stamford Bridge job before Antonio Conte a few years ago. He felt it was too good a job to turn down.
“The problem was, the manager didn’t talk to the players — well only the ones he liked."
One senior player told The Athletic that Lampard staying on for the rest of the season would have been a ‘catastrophe’, with the levels of tension in the dressing room to high to recover from and players comparing his criticism of performances to Jose Mourinho in his final days at the club.
By the Fulham game in early January, players were expecting Lampard to be sacked if they didn’t win.
Lampard warned everyone, including the hierarchy, that a title bid was unlikely in 2020-21, that the arrivals would require patience to settle into a new league and country.

I did not see it coming either, but Tuchel becoming available probably spelt the end for Lampard. I assume Chelsea’s plan is to have him get the most of the their German, blockbuster signings.

How to not see it coming, he has Chelsea in midtable. 9th on the table with teams above them having even played less games. It is an outstandingly poor position for this Chelsea.
Coupled with not getting the best out of their big signings, he wasn't looking great.

It still made no sense to sack him in the middle of the season when there’s no good alternative lined up, but I suppose Tuchel changed that.

You could sense the trouble brewing in his insistence on putting the blame on the players publicly.
He's been doing this since last season and after the transfer window it was clear he would not be able to get way with it for much longer.
He was acting like Mourinho without having the record or results to show for it.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Lampard is my favorite Chelsea player of all time, but it was painfully obvious he had to go. It had gotten to the point where I couldn't see this team improving. His tactics was David Moyes like; cross, cross, and moar cross. He is a very inexperienced manager at the end of the day; need to evolve tactically and get better with man management. Chelsea is not a place to learn on the job Hope he can rebound.

he's 5 points from 4tb, hardly something that can't be fixed with half the season to play for. The results have not been as dire as 9th suggests, it's a very competitive yearrincon wrote:How to not see it coming, he has Chelsea in midtable. 9th on the table with teams above them having even played less games. Disagree, the results are exactly that.
He is 5 points from 4th at best. At worst he is 9 points from 4th if Everton win their games, or even Spurs or Villa can put them 7 points behind.
Chelsea shouldn't be looking at the results of Everton or Villa to try to get CL football. West Ham, Leicester are also ahead. Being behind 4 smaller clubs is too much imo.
Chelsea should be competing with Spurs at least, but they don't look like it, let alone Liverpool or the Manchester teams.

All in all I think Lampard was deceived. They bought him 2 bundesliga frauds he didn't ask for in Wiener and Kia Havertz and expected to reach the stars within a year, not only are these players from a fraudulent leauge but also young and inexperienced

that is bullshit and you will see that yourself when they start performing under Tuchel. With that said Tuchel will still have difficult time in general because there is too much competition in EPL now.
