Frank Lampard Sack Watch

They finished 7th in the championship this past season? I think he's got a strong chance to bring them up.

Nice to see him get a chance so quickly.

Who got the better job, him or Gerrard?

Both on an equal level imo.^^
Would depend on what they do with these jobs now.

Gerrard was much more talented as a player, despite that Lampard achieved a similar career and height.

Maybe it turns out differently, but everything points to Lampard being a better manager.

Far too early to judge.

For one he has inherited the worst Chelsea I have witnessed in all my playing days and not a single world class player of note bar Kepa; as at least Sarri had Hazard.

Pulisic is good but has shown little to me aside from his marvellous close control and is relatively untested on the big stage and one cannot build a side around him. Nowhere near Hazard obvious nor will he ever be.  

Second, the sample size is too short given he has not even had a previous season to work with this team, let alone a summer transfer kit.


Third, he is fresh as it comes when it comes to managing, Derby stint aside.

I like his ideas as he speaks well, knows what he speaks of and the little I saw of his derby, and Chelsea pre-season its obvious there is managerial talent but like a certain Allegri, who has a brilliant tactical mind I can see his pragmatism and lack of belief in his core ideas being his downfall.

I predict Frank a modest success with Chelsea if one is realistic for their expectations.

He always came across as intelligent as it is and is amongst my favourite all time English players. Stellar player.

Genuinely hope he succeeds. We need him to, for the sake of Brexit as it is.

Chelsea's attacking line is terrible. No player with quality, balls or attitude to lead. Arq, it's not too early to be concerned, Chelsea could have a completely mediocre season being a midtable team. the fact that Lampard is a noob coach will just make it harder

I don't think there are any expectations on him tbh. I doubt Roman honestly thinks they should  be reaching the CL spots being transfer banned. But I honestly can see them finishing 10th or lower. I don't think he will be sacked unless they're like 15th in December.

I cannot disagree here just pointing out on how this cannot succinctly reflect on Lamps' ability as a manager bar some sub-facets along with the pressure of his legend status in the club an already extra weight upon him (even if that can be considered an advantage).

It comes down to the expectations as a Premier League title is next to impossible and unrealistic. Top 4 is the goal based on Chelsea's decade+ status and what the fans expect but with the current competition that too remains impractical.

Should he show the propensity to grow within the club along with building a team for the future then Chelsea for once must stick to their guns and let it happen for the sake of stability, for one.

Beyond that it just is an ill-timed appointment and romantacized in just as worse timing.

I see Frank succeeding, but he is no messiah.

It's hard to say very much after such a small sample size.

Against Manchester United, his team hit the post twice and were outplaying Man U during the early part of the game. He was undone by a very poor game by Zouma (which I guess Lampard does have to take some credit for). As his team chased the game, they were cut open. Again, that's poor, but one could have imagined the game would be very different if his team scored one of the two shots that hit the post.

Didn't see the game vs Liverpool but heard they played well against a strong side. If the game against United was poor from Lampard's perspective, and I think it was, even if they were a bit unlucky, then this game is a pretty positive one for Chelsea.

Leicester I only caught the second half, but they were cut open again and again on the counter. Poor once again. Heard they played well in the first half though.

Early on it's clear that the side struggles for consistency. They need more time with Lampard to discover an identity. Their identity right now is a team that is too undisciplined and young. They're technically very decent and put together nice moves at times, but that same willingness to go forward and attack is what leaves them hopelessly exposed so many times. They should have lost to Leicester.

At the same time, the team just isn't that great. Their offense is alright actually, I think they have promising young players. Jorginho is a great player, if limited in some aspects, and Kante is world class. But the midfield is still poor, and the defense is arguably worse. It's hard to blame it all on Lampard although as I've mentioned, I find his team strikingly undisciplined, and that falls on his shoulders.

I guess all of that is to say we need more time to see what we have from Lampard at Chelsea. I think given the transfer ban and the team he has, he's given a bit of a pass this season. With that being said, my initial impressions of his ability are not particularly positive. I didn't see the game vs Liverpool, though. I've simply never seen a team that is so easily cut open on any sort of counterattack. I think they'll do well against midtable and below teams, but quite frankly I think any team that is a top 10 team in the EPL will give them trouble.

As long as we're not in the relegation zone, I will be saddened if he is sacked anytime in the next year.

All I care about is improvement this season. Both from Lampard and the young players.

Really hope Chelsea stay patient and give Lampard enought time.

aint no one defending the liverpool set plays
