Frank lampard fan, but really feel odai is being over-looked. Him and pulisic are really good, ziyech when he’s back. Not sure about Werner, but giroud is the best striker for Chelsea, it’s him that should be starting. I figured a midfield of mount, kova, and Kante are solid but idk???

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
I liked this guy as a pundit, he seems smart, and Chelsea played attractive stuff last season, but his attitude is terrible.
Just because he was a very successful player at top level does not give him the right to pretend he's got the same status as manager. He hasn't. He's a rookie with nothing to show for. He's not Mourinho.
He's behaving (and repeatedly saying it publicly) as if the PLAYERS are not up to standard yet, THEY have to improve, they are letting HIM down, they must show that they are up to the highest standards, etc.
What an arrogant, entitled little prick. WHo does he think he is?
He has got more to learn as a manager, and more to prove, than the most inexperienced youngster in his squad has as a player.
He should show some humility, he's got a supremely talented (and expensive) squad full of top quality and HE is the one failing to translate this quality into a well performing team on the pitch.
HE must improve, HE is letting his players down.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Is he still trying to shoehorn Mount and Tammy? This seems to be Chelsea's best lineup on paper aka their FIFA lineup. Has he fielded it yet?

Reece Silva Zouma Chilwell
Kante Kovacic
Ziyech Havertz Pulisic

Good lineup (of course Kovacic is the problem there), but Hudson-Odoi is their best player tbh and he's never playing

But Mark Hughes had money in City
Ziyech being out is a big loss. I felt he was their best attacking player. Creates chances out of nothing.

Mount for Havertz! and then you've got it right
And then Giroud and Tammy are worthy competition for Werner

Kovavic is arguably their best midfielder lol

Hudson-Odoi is not even close to Chelsea's sixth-best player (now)
I am not sure what his ceiling is tbh

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Hudson-Odoi is actually one of their most talented players. He was unplayable when he came on and single handedly nearly got them back to 3-2 had Jorginho scored the pen
He is a better player than Havertz, Mount and Werner.

Also, Giroud is easily Chelsea's best striker even if of course he has declined a bit since his Arsenal days

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Giroud has been in great form this season but this is a striker who has had enough seasons to prove whether he can guide a team to higher ground, and has failed every time.
He's a "good" striker, but that's all he is. He's a great substitute and that role fits him really well.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Who would have thought out of Mou/Lampard/Ole that Ole would be the best?
Mans is doing more with less than both squads, in my opinion. Then again, he has Bruno and Rashford, who are pretty close to Kane/Son level. Lampard does have the excuse of not having any player who quite reaches the level of Kane/Son/Bruno/Rashford, although I would argue he has the most balanced team overall. He also spent a shit ton of money.

Fernandes is only the player who created the most chances in Europe in 2020.
Otherwise, he is a scrub (W/O Fernandes, MU would be out of the top 6).

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
Fernandes is easily the most overrated player around. He gets found out against any sort of organized opponent, of which the Premier League admittedly has only very few.
Then he gets frustrated and starts kicking and bitching, and misplacing passes, and then he gets to score another penalty so everyone is satisfied with him again.

Fact is, United wouldn't be in the Europa League if they didn't sign Fernandes, so that's rating him just fine.
Penalties have nothing to do with it. The guy has created the most chances in Europe for the past full year playing for a glorified mid-table team.

Soooo
Chelsea fans turn on him yet? They are starting to run out of players to blame at this point.

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
These guys are legit 3 points ahead of Arsenal right now.
Idk what Chelsea are doing if they aren't thinking of sacking this guy right now.
I feel like because they haven't had an extended stretch like Arsenal, it's flown under the radar how shit Chelsea have been

Re: Frank Lampard Sack Watch
I have serious doubts about Chelsea's squad building in the summer and think Lampard's been handed a very tough job thanks to over-zealous recruitment of attacking players, but his tactics are also problematic.
Chelsea commit up to seven players to attacks and are easy pickings in transition. They leave Kante, Zouma and Silva back to deal with counters which is nowhere near enough. Playing as Chelsea do, anyone left back to defend has to be superhuman.
Since everyone goes forward, there's little depth to their attacks, too. The edge of the area becomes crowded and there's no option to go backwards and recycle possession. They have to brute force their attacks a lot of time, usually by throwing crosses into the box until one of them bounces in off Giroud or something. I don't see them rotating or trying to create overloads.
To me, Chelsea's best midfield trio is Kante, Jorginho and Kovavic, because of the balance they bring to the team with and without the ball. But to play those three means leaving out a superstar somewhere. It means leaving a Havertz, or Ziyech, or CHO, or Pulisic, on the bench, and that's not how Chelsea want to play after signing all those players.
It's also clear Lampard has no plan for Werner. Werner benefits from balls to run onto and struggles when given the ball to feet and asked to beat players. He's never going to thrive in a team who bunches all its players up and passes it around before resorting to a cross.
Expecting them to spend 50m to get Declan Rice this month.
