AVB would get far with proper players. Lamps on the other hand...

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
AVB will do well if he can build his own team like Mourinho did, but Roman will fire him end of the season and same thing will happen to another Manager the year after.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Lampard and really, it makes sense.
The witch hunt for AVB is churning up so much speed its untrue.
Not untill I came back to London this week was I fully aware of it.
He wont ever be left in peace without results and those results wont come with the batch of players he has. People are really naive enough to think this Chelsea team has the quality within them to do significantly better than they are doing, which really isnt the case.

It will be Lampard. Chelsea will not sell Lampard. Believe that. If AVB had been producing results, he could have the nerve to ask for Lampard to be sold but since he isn't, nobody will listen to him saying that. Lamoard will probably retire at Chelsea.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Losing this match was a huge blow now the chances of a top 4 finish look very very hard.
Not only did they lose though but they lost to one of the worst teams around, really have to wonder what the players are doing and what's going through their heads.

chelsea probably should ride through this with avb, because Roman has invested pretty big in talent for the future and i think he wants avb to administer. the big complaint about chelsea's team is that they're too old but they will have a young core soon, considering the recent buys of Luiz, Mata, Romeu, Lukaku, DeBruyne, Lucas Piazon, and Courtois combined with mceachran and sturridge who have come through internally.
Roman is obviously likely to spend even more in the summer and also chelsea will probably see the exits of drogba, kalou, mikel, and maybe some others. the 'too old' excuse probably wont be available next season so it probably means avb will HAVE to win with what he has next season provided he lasts THIS season.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
is the board ready to cut his throat though? is it only the media or is the dressing room and board room really "fire at will" mode @ him atm>?
i think it would be ridiculous to let him go, no point in it, gambles gambles gambles.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Who would want Lampard though? I don't think he'd move to a small EPL club or go overseas. Maybe Man C would buy him for the sake of it, although they clearly don't need him.Barrettinator wrote:It will be Lampard. Chelsea will not sell Lampard. Believe that. Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Chelsea is just 3 points away from 4th spot, no need to overreact by sacking the coach or selling one of the most respected players in their history. Doesn't make sense.
But if I got to choose, I'd sell Lampard. I don't believe that any other manager could do a better job than AVB without spending a lot of money.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Well, Lampard has already given his best years to Chelsea, on the other hand it's hard to say whether AVB is a good manager or not.
Anyway, Chelsea's next game is already on Tuesday, FA cup replay, Birmingham v Chelsea.
Chelsea need a win so bad...

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Well, we have an answer to the original question. So, here's a new one:
"Will Lampard be at Chelsea next season."
Until now, we had assumed it would be one or the other, and it could still turn out to be Lamps over AVB. However, I'm not convinced there won't still be a clearing out of the "old guard" at Chelsea. Whoever the new manager turns out to be might actually get the chance to overhaul the squad. Lord knows he'll have funds available.

Re: Frank Lampard vs AVB
Sacking him was kind of a desperate move tbh.. but it really was a step backwards and another point to player power
Only one that can really save us is Mourinho cos only he has the balls to make changes
