Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
PSG doesn't really always do things according to "sporting reasons". They are an oil rich club who can buy whoever they want and refuse to sell whoever they want.
Besides, Mbappe is a great young player who has Ballon d'Or potential. There are some very good sporting reasons to be interested in buying him.

That one didn't do it in the CL against the best teams around.

Tbf I still think Martial is a fantastic player, just needs the right manager/team. I would love for Barca to buy him for the LW. Maybe not to start right away, but to rotate with a vision to start him in the future.
No idea why people aren't rating him. Whenever I watch him play he's still great, and very young.
Mole is also correct in pointing out it's not the same situation.

You're thinking of this too much in sporting terms. I completely agree, Martial has awesome potential and is very young but could you imagine the uproar if Barcelona replaced Neymar with him?
It just can't happen

Yeah, that would not fly well with a lot of ticket holders and socios at Barcelona. I and all would totally like if Martial happen to arrive in Madrid but that probably would never happen.

And knowing Martial, he'll probably fold under the pressure of being Neymar's replacement.

Smh here I was hoping this kid forces benzema to leave this summer finally, maybe this is smoke for a RM deal in the end, if he goes to PSG I guessed right the club wasn't interested at that fee which make sense.

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
I personally like Emery, but he's doesn't have the quality to manage this level and he has the likes of Mbappe and Neymar at his disposal? If he doesn't win the league in February than he's a sham.
PSG spend 400m+ on 2 players but have obviously problems in midfield, defense, GK, and could do with a better manager. Feels a lot like RM In 08/09-/09/10 ish

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
Unlike Neymar this feels like a complete luxury/statement signing. They could've spent the money on Oblak & Fabinho instead. I'm interested in seeing how someone as tactically limited as Unai Emery can build a cohesive attack consisting of Neymar, Mbappe & Cavani.

[Onda Cero] Mbappe asked Madrid for 12m a year as that is what PSG is offering him. RM withdrew and said, "Congratulations and good luck at PSG."

Well, yeah, 12m a year at the age of 18 and not actually accomplishing anything worthy of that salary is really a "good luck in your future endeavours" rejection.

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
Well, he scored as many goals as in Bale's last season at Spurs (26) and in half a season with 6 of them in CL elimination games. Yet we gave Bale higher wages.
So yeah. I see why Mbappe called Madrid BS.

[L'Équipe] Mbappé has chosen Paris to continue his career, PSG advancing "prudently" because of FFP, Monaco very reluctant to sell and will lengthen any negotiations

So that one season is the only time Bale performed? Gonna ignore his performances in the EPL? Mbappe is fine talent but he is definitely, definitely not a 12m a year footballer. Not even half that amount to be fair. Bale earned his "right" to call big figures, what is Mbappe's accomplishments to call a 12m a year salary?

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
Well Mbappe carried Monaco to surprise title over heavily favored PGS. Scored countless game winners and MOTM performances in the 2nf half of the season. HE also carried Monaco by being the best player and scored against Man City and Dortmund. The Spurs under Bale did ok but we're never a top tier team, didn't win any trophies, weren't a CL team... and, let's be honest... the EPL overhype is extreme while Ligue 1 players suffer from underhype if anything. Bale was always a donkey with a great shot... but he is Welsh and played in EPL.

"Carried " is a bit of stretch...They won their group in the CL and were first in the league by January without him. Falcao also came through with a ridiculous number of decisive winners in the second half of the season.

Mbappe has proven more in that season than Bale has ever done. Bale scored screamers and people loved that. No one watches their games though.

12m a year for kinda carrying a Monaco team? Madrid is not gonna pay an 18 year old that amount for something like that and quite frankly, I don't blame them. If PSG or City is more than willing, good for them and I would be enjoying Mbappe elsewhere.

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
Frankly, i have to agree with Doc here, 12m p/y is an absurd amount for an 18 yr old who just finished his first professional season. Actually, its a bit insulting he'd demand that much, speaks volumes about his character

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
The assessment of Bale is completely incorrect. Bale showed solid form over multiple seasons culminating in a season where he carried Fraudas Flopas and a dire Tottenham squad to a fourth place finish in the EPL (unfortunately didn't get CL because of Chelsea winning EL or something). That season is the definition of "carrying" a team and honestly I don't think we've seen anyone else carry a team to the extent of Bale that season in the last 15 years. It was insane. Certainly much greater than this "Mbappe carry"
Years before that Bale was scoring hat tricks and putting MOTM performances against one of the great Inter Milan teams, taking a decent but not outstanding Spurs side top of their group in CL and then past Milan to the CL quarters while evolving from a LB to a strong and formidable LW.
Besides, you could see that Bale had matured over the years and became a finished product. Physically, he's a freak of nature. Fast, powerful, tall. He had many different abilities, to head the ball, one of the best FK takers, able to score outside the box, a good crosser, and he matured into a very technically skilled player. To be sure, he's done pretty well at Madrid after a rocky start and besides the injuries. Unfortunately, it's hard to ignore the injuries, but it's not like Madrid could have predicted that.
Why are you comparing any of this to an 18 year old who played half a season? It's insane, and I can admit that Mbappe is a very good talent, no denying that.
EDIT: Source, unlike Freeza I have watched many of the games from that season and previous seasons.

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
Bale was bad before the injuries. It's not why he's struggling. He was the same before.
Still can remember how Simeone refused to mark Bale and left him all alone and Bale continued to run the ball off the field. Incredible donkey of a player. Stunning really.
Source: Bale sucks.

Re: BREAKING: Mbappe to PSG
He broke in late Nov when Falcao went down. Had a great December. 6 goals in a 4 week span right then,
Just to put it in perspective.... Falcao had 15 goals in the second half of the season with 3 in UCL... Mbappe had 20 goals from January on with 5 in elimination round CL games. Had 6 assists too. Didn't play central striker either, so from the wing.
And spurs fan can't stop talking about the inter tie post mourinho who sucked. Heck, even Marseille beats them lol during that period.
