Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I think urban was referring to the flashback life stories of characters which are in both Lost and OITNB. But yea, besides that they couldn't be any more dissimilar.

I couldn't get into OITNB for some reason. Eventhough I am a sucker for prison shows. Might give another go.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
It depends on your definition of similar.
Similar as in a character-driven show that has a group of people with different personalities stuck in a place together = OITNB
Similarly The Walking Dead with all the surviving day by day they have going on.
The Leftovers for the otherworldly mystical stuff.
If you have better recommendations then you're encouraged to post them.

I caught up with Supernatural a couple months back after dropping it last season. Was pretty good as usual.
New season just started, I'm down ffs.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
I usually end up watching it about half a season, getting bored and stopping, then watching it in bulk over the summer. I hope they have some new ideas for this season. Bit bored of angels and demons, always liked the monster episodes the most but they've left those behind mostly. I understand why. I say it every year but I can't believe how long it's been on TV, crazy. Remember watching it in school ffs.
I might pick up that show The Killing from a few years ago. Hear the first season was really good. I want a dark crime mystery/cop type show atm. Think McAgger was a fan of that

Saw the first 2 seasons. It gets meh after season 1.
Have you seen Fringe Firenze?
It's dark and humorous at the same time, it's fast paced, it's thought provoking. It blows your mind in some cliff hangers. Every season ends strong. Sci Fi detective show at its best.
Starts out episodic in the first half of season 1 and then becomes serialized in the second half of the season and for the rest of the show.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Replace the guys in Supernatural and boom you have a great TV show, Anything with huge girl following is automatically not good enough for guys in this world smh
The concept of the show is absolutely outstanding. That said, I liked the first episode of season 12.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
It can be a hard show to get into because it starts slow, i watched 7 episodes of it 2 months ago and then gave it a break, the family drama was too much for me and it can be a bit depressing at times but once you get past some character building everything gets better.

The Americans is in the same place Homeland is for me. I have no appetite for shows like that, despite how good they are supposedly. I only have enough attention for one spy drama at a time and right now that's the Blacklist.

Ash vs Evil Dead is back and just as good as the first season.
The morgue scene .....I think men all over this country who convinced their wives to watch this show just basically got extra space on the couch after that scene. Ridiculous stuff.

Is it really worth it though? Looks kinda like something a teen girl would rather watch (I have seen only a brief 2 min trailer).

A lot deeper than a 2 min trailer honestly. It's in its 6th season and still going fairly strong.
Does it have moments that are meant for teen girls? Yup. Does it have deliciously dark moments that I suit me? Yup.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 5
Not all of it. First few seasons then I got busy with Uni so forgot.
Also that was an old opinion based on the quality of it. Even now Seinfeld is probably the best made sitcom and has inspired nearly every sitcom that came after it.
But I am not sure it's my favourite now. I prefer HIMYM, Arrested development and Inbetweeners over it.

Never watched Seinfeld or Friends.

Neal oh boy you've missed out on a lifetime of great quotes and 2 of the best TV characters of all time in Costanza and Kramer.
Definitely the goat sitcom and the main reason why Friends and HIMYM were so popular.
