who asked for this ffs
Cant wait for that lol.
BTW I watched Arrival. An interesting film. Very Interstellar-ish, a better version of Interstellar in some ways, (its just me, so interstellar fans please take no offense).
Has anyone read the book its based on? Curious to learn how a writer could possibly write something like this, you know what I mean, the different

- @Glory:
- I don't think it would require different tenses
If the book follows the narrative structure of the film, then it shouldn't. Similar to the movie, you just reveal the time loop as the twist with simple present tense at the end.

Thats what I thought too, until of course I stumbled upon this.
- SPOILER:
- The credit for this narrative trick goes to author Ted Chiang, who plotted Arrival back in 2002 as a first-person short story called Story of Your Life. His work cleverly uses different tenses, mixing future, past, and present to weave the complex non-linear knot of Louise’s life in a way reminiscent of Billy Pilgrim from Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five. Chiang’s hidden meanings, and the things that inevitably got lost in translating his words to the big screen, are pivotal to help viewers understand what Arrival is saying.

Wow, that sounds impressive. Heard that the story won him a big award back in 2000.
Looks like a copy can only be bought on amazon online.

It's a short story not a book. So shouldn't take more than an hour or two to read if you are interested.
I haven't read it myself.

I'm guessing this is the kind of story you'll have to read extra slow and actively think about meaning of every paragraph to get the full pleasure.
Won't read it until I'm in my 60s retired and got nothing better to do.

Children of Men (2009)
It was as good as you guys said. Certainly one of the most powerful films I have seen. Fantastic from the start to finish.
What made it even better was that the events shown are arguably what realistically could happen if an event similar to that arise. It makes you think about how fragile are the morals we have placed and how low humans can go during their worst. Everything felt so realistic. Loved the fact that for once it wasn't a Tom Cruise kinda guy assisting some Jennifer Lawrence through prime NYC while making out along the way and everything just falling to pieces for them. And it showed brutality without remorse. There was no 'get out of the jail card'. Characters just died like they normally would. No melodrama. No forced Drama.
That scene where Theo and Kee start walking down the hospital with the baby crying. That was haunting man.
Michael Caine was brilliant. Pull my finger
Definitely a film I will always remember.
9/10

Fugitive was a good movie imo. Think I've watched too many cop chase on the run type movies though. Need one with a unique story like the game.

Re: The Movie House - Part 8
MT you're gonna love Gone Girl.
But even more so you'll love The Gift. It's everything you love in a film. Great suspense/mystery/thriller.
Also watch Playtest (Black Mirror 3rd episode of this season). Another suspenseful thriller.

+1 Panic Room.
Kept thinking why they didn't just go in the morning and calmly negotiate with the family for their stuff.

They could have easily shared the money but greed is a thing. Also the 3rd guy (gun guy) was always going to kill the other two so there is that.
Glad you liked it.
