So it looks like Marchisio will return prior to Pogba's transfer. That's great news...

Juventus on alert as Real Madrid agree to let midfielder go...

An old flame in the Bianconeri’s interest in Spain international Isco could be about to reignite...

Real Madrid are ready to get to work on transforming their midfield, and Juventus could be about to benefit if Isco leaves as expected.

Young playmaking ace Marco Asensio has been handed a promotion to first team duties at Los Blancos, and with the arrival of another midfielder expected, Madrid President Florentino Perez had to swing the axe on a senior performer.

According to AS the choice was between James Rodriguez and Isco, with the latter being chosen on Friday.

Juventus could now be faced with the decision of whether or not to reignite their interest in the Spaniard, bearing in mind that they will soon have room for him if Paul Pogba’s transfer to Manchester United is completed.

Meanwhile, after admitting defeat in the race for Pogba, Real Madrid are likely to bring in either Moussa Sissoko or Nemanja Matic.

Isco was last linked to the Bianconeri three months ago, but the Serie A champions appeared to rule themselves out of the bidding when it looked as though the player would be staying put at the Santiago Bernabeu.

So far this summer Juventus have been reasonably active on the transfer market, with a major highlight being the club record outlay for former Napoli striker and last season’s Capocannoniere Gonzalo Higuain.

Yeah it's ALWAYS about the money, who'd be stupid enough to walk away from millions because of loyalty to a club?...

Rolling Eyes

Juventus defender rejects lucrative Manchester City offer...

A substantial offer from the Citizens has been rejected by Leonardo Bonucci, who has decided to remain loyal to the Bianconeri...

Despite the persistence of Manchester City, Leonardo Bonucci has rejected the latest offer from the Citizens as he wants to stay at Juventus.

In 2015, the Bianconeri centre-back signed a contract extension, meaning his deal is set to expire in June 2019. The agreement also included a wage increase from €1.7 million to €3.5m plus bonuses per season.

For some time the 29-year-old has been targeted by Manchester City, and the Premier League side have offered Juventus €60m for the Italian international as well as a yearly salary of €8m for the player. However, he has made it clear that his desire is to remain in Turin and try to win the Champions League with the Old Lady.

Although Bonucci has been offered a substantial increase in wages compared to what he earns at the Bianconeri, he is expected to remain in Italy despite the club’s inability to match the offer from the Citizens, though there is the possibility of a further contract renewal.

Bonucci is Italian.  He doesn't want to leave his home country and also jeopardize his NT place if his performances suffer at City...  taking the comfortable and safe route, which is understandable given his age.  Become less ambitious and more concerned with keeping what you have as you get older.

Asking a 23 year old superstar who is not Italian to be unambitious...  well you know the story.

Is the reality of the world so hard to grasp?

it is extremely ambitious to forfeit on club football's biggest competition (the CL) Laughing

Sports pls, I know you love the player but this is not a move about ambition. Its move about money. You can even say its about an exciting change, or about moving to a place he likes, but ambition??

If he was ambitious he would have stayed and keep trying to win the CL with Juve, or force a move to Madrid or Barcelona and go for it all. Stop trying to paint it a different color.

and Bonucci unambitious? rofl
Bonucci's mentality puts most football players to shame. He would beast at City, or any other team, and even if he wouldn't, he sure as hell wouldn't back down from a challenge because of fear. For Bonucci to lose his place in the NT would be extremely unlikely, just no chance. He is one of the pillars of the NT. And what is this about his age? Bonucci is in his prime, if there is a time to be ambitious and go for gold its your prime. Just ask Higuain. He is 6 years younger than his partner in defense ffs.

Bonucci fretting from a challenge and being unambitious...

How many Italian players of note have left Serie A in their prime?  Luca Toni was 30 but still very good when left for Bayern.  Cannavaro became awful the moment he came to Madrid... and he came when he was 33.

It's just something about Italian players never wanting to leave Serie A unless they're forced to for whatever reason.  Just how it is.

This same applies to English, German and even Spanish players to an extent. Just because they dont move around like nomads like the French-African mercenaries, from league to league, that doesnt make them unambitious.

For an Italian, playing in Serie A with a big club would be his pinnacle, likewise the same for a German in regards to BL and Bayern or a Spaniard with Real/Barca. French football just doesnt compare to these heavyweight footballing nations and their deep footballing cultures.

S is just salty because he was sure that Juve was an elite club... he was fooled. Good club. Legendary one in fact. But they made some moves over the past 20 years that doesn't make the club a final destination anymore unless you're Italian.

For example, the Zidane sale may have worked out sportively with the acquisitions made... but it was a very bad move in terms of perceptions. Same thing with Pogba... Juve should have paid him and paid him well. It would have sent a strong message. Ibra left Juve due to the money as well.

Salty ? Because Pogba left for a World record fee ? Laughing

Why should i be salty ? We're building an amazing team and standing toe to toe with elite clubs despite inferior finances. Any Juventus fan should be proud of this.

English players... not as much. Owen, Waddle, Bale, etc. all left England in their prime. There just aren't a whole lot of great English players contrary to popular opinion. Besides, EPL is one the two best leagues in the world with the most money. There's very little reason to leave.

Same with Spain. Top league. However, a lot of Spanish players are leaving to greener pastures. Mata, David Silva, Torres, Javi Martinez, Xabi Alonso, Thiago Alcantara, Santi Cazorla, Pique (he went to Man U briefly), Cesc Fabregas, etc. A ton of players moved around.

German player either go to Bayern or leave too. You have Ozil, Khedira, Schurrle, Trapp, Ter Stegen, Mustafi, Rudiger, etc. that have all left (some have come back). Even back in the day, Gerd Mueller went to Madrid. Rummenigge went to Inter. Bierhoff went to AC Milan. Lothar Matthäus went to Inter. Etc.

He is ignoring how wrong he was about that nonsense of ambition and now he is just making random statements.

1) Yes, there have been Italians moving around in their prime.

2) Obviously most Italians stay in Italy.

3) No, Ibra did not move for money, he moved because we got relegated. Its fine though, given how little you know of Juventus I wouldn't expect you too know.

4) Whatever useless definition of "elite club" you are using doesn't matter. What matters is that over 100 years Juventus is an extremely successful club true to itself.

5) Zidane leaving was in no way a "very bad move in terms of perception" that statement is either done by projecting this Pogba thing on Zidane or due to simply being a fanboy of his. The transfer made with his money turned into 3 club legends, one which won the ballon d'or and became a cornerstone of our management (Nedved), one which became the most capped french player in history (but I'm sure you know that, Thuram), and one which is due to spend 17 seasons at the club and is arguably our biggest legend ever (Buffon).

Jesus christ more nonsense points, what is even the point of this

6) Bale is not english ffs Laughing

7) If we are gonna count every scrub around (Mustafi, Rudiger, Trapp... ) then obviously there is a similar amount of Italian players that have left. Verratti, Sirigu, Rossi, Cassano, Toni, Darmian, Zola, Barzagli, Soriano, Cerci, Sansone, Immobile, Zambrotta, Cannavaro, etc. That took me about 20 seconds, there you go.

If you basically sit still and are happy where you are.... while rejecting to go somewhere that could lead to something higher and, at minimum, more challenging... shows a lack of ambition to me. Isn't that what Bonucci is doing?

Btw, I'm not saying ambition is a good thing. It can be a very destructive thing. If I were in Bonucci's shoes, I'd do the same thing. I would consider myself lacking ambition... and happily so if I were in his shoes.

Why try for something else, even if it may lead to more, if you're happy where you are and the risks outweigh the benefits?

The UK.  Not English.  Fine point Rincon.  It really killed the argument there.  You should make the debate team Laughing

Verratti was in Serie B and was offered a massive contract by PSG.  Sirigu was in Palermo and PSG offered him a HUGE contract too.  Rossi was born and raised in the US.  Only chose Italy after he was already a pro because it gave him a chance at more NT glory than the US.

I mentioned the guys that left at the end or after their prime like Toni, Cannavaro, etc.

I said top Italian players who were clearly targeted by top domestic clubs but left for abroad.  Not very many.  Even Barzagli was basically stuck in Palermo and needed a boost for his career and had to leave for it.

And please stop mentioning scrubs or past it players ffs Laughing  Sansone?  Darmian?  Cerci?  Are any of these guys even worth mentioning?
