I believe in the whole mantra "the league table does not lie" and Roma fans here have always come across as fans who are honest about their team's performance and players. So just how a team whose coach has "lost the plot" and players aren't "pulling their weight" are currently fifth?

Cause this Roma shouldn't be 12pts from Napoli. Garcia absolutely lost the team. They started well enough, but once again fell apart under him. Its not just result-wise, their play was terrible and their tactics extremely inflexible. It got to the point where the players just seemed to have lost interest or belief in whatever happened.

They have the best midfield on paper in serie A, and they have actually performed in the past, so its not a matter of fit. Pjanic-De Rossi-Naingollan is excellent. As is having Florenzi, Dzeko, Gervinho and Salah. Their defense needs fixing but thats not enough of an excuse for Garcia.

He set them against Barca at the camp nou with a high line and conceded 7. Then he made the same mistakes twice against Leverkusen where the tie saw 15 goals scored. Spalletti already did much better against Juve with his defensive gameplan, showing that this team doesnt have to be awful at the back. In fact, they showed it with Garcia on the first game against Barca but then he decided to get smashed again on the return leg. Clueless.

They get bailed out in serie A due to their better squad but even then are so far behind Napoli. Even Fiore are outplaying them at their own game. These past years Fiorentina has been like Roma-lite and now they look much better with worse players.

Well I think there is a lot of disappointment largely due to what rincon touched on, but also from Roma fans as there is a sense that this team is much better than its play suggests. We are better than 5th place, but we're not playing like it. I think that's the main gripe here with Roma. Lots of talent, lots of potential and lots of quality, but just no substance and that's very frustrating for folks who want to see this club do well.

Maybe pre-Garcia 5th place would've been acceptable, but after that 1st season with him, he really showed what Roma can do and what it's capable of. He raised the bar and now rather lower it, we Romanisti expect the club to keep playing at that level. They haven't since that season and that's where a lot of the negativity comes from.

Atalanta - Borriello , Eder - Inter, Quagliarella - Sampdoria , Paloschi - Swansea
Sampdoria is a building site, they've obliged Eder to accept or Inter or Leicester  , then Zukanovic is going in Roma, Regini in Napoli , Soriano next to Inter (but for June probably. . despite he was in Milano today
Sampdoria fans are angry with Ferrero for it, but it was expected . Ferrero is insane and they risk to get bankrupt with his insane management
A club as Sampdoria can't refuse 11-13 mln for Eder.
It was weird to do it in August, just now Ferero has realized Sampdoria are just a small club who gets the end if they reason as a big club

Ridiculous penalty call for Atalanta, 1-1 Consigli blocked Denis' shot and then he scored on the rebound.

Pogba and Dybala, two phenomenal players.

Absolutely enjoyable to see them link up together.

Both easily top 3 players in the league right now.

Hope they both realize Juve is the right environment to grow and stay on for a few more yrs together. One can hope.

They will get a big move at some point anyway.

Agree

Morata even though not at the level of Pogba and Dybala certainly has the talent to become elite.

Tell you what, this has been the most enjoyable Juventus team to watch in a while.Just need to be a bit more clinical in finishing chances away.

Yeah, same thing I said in the juve 14 vs 15 topic. This team play is outstanding, best we've seen in while. We just need to be more clinical to be as effective as last years team.

Post by McLewis Sun Jan 31, 2016 1:59 pm

The very fact that we only started playing well after Totti was brought on is indicative of how dependant we still are on him, even as he nears retirement. While it was refreshing to actually see a pass not go sideways or backwards, but actually split the defense, it also made me rather sad as this, along with the last year of football,  means we're still not ready for post-Totti Roma. The lack of preparation for this reality is honestly very damning. We've had years to prepare for this, but sentiment has got in the way of it, to the detriment of actual rational logic.

So yes, I am glad we won, but let's be honest. It's Frosinone and we struggled against them even before Totti came on. We play that way against Madrid and it's going to be hard to not get embarrassed in both legs.

We need the same defensive grit we showed against Juve along with an ability to split the defense with passing and movement. Not going to happen against a backline like Madrid's, but that's what needs to happen.
