May have been the worst player on the pitch in the UCL 2013 final but he did so much better in the WC 2014 final.
Pep is chasing Leonardo Bonucci like crazy. Why don't we do the same? After Iniesta (and Spain) went out I was backing Italy to win Euro 2016 and Bonucci to be player of the tournament but alas it all came down to one fatal penalty kick.

I don't understand the obsession with Bonucci. Every big tournament a player who has been playing well for many years gets so much publicity as if he was a nobody before and now he's a world class defender over night. And with that comes inflated transfer fee, of course.
If you really wanted him you should have moved for him before Euro tournament.
PS: he ain't that special.

He's been a great CB for years, ask any Juve fan. Pure ignorance to suggest he's one of those tournament flukes.

Agree
He is been very impressive for past seasons and top 3 this year for me. The guy eats Pique and shits Ramos week in week out yet still isn't specials while those walking time bombs continue to rule the roster.

Easier to play in 5 man backline. One more cb to cover your ass, less space to cover in box, less need to worry about breaking the line, No way the backline ever going to get outnumbered etc etc.
I can name bunch of serie A greats who looked poor when playing a more proactive game in different teams.

I'm reading in some papers Pep may have come to an agreement with MaTS? This better not be true.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
Could be true and very worrying. Lets face it. Hart is not good enough for the way Pep wants to play.
MaTS is just the perfect Pep GK. Adding to the problem is the fact that MATS is still not our number 1. We have 2 class GK's and each deserve to start.
How do you drop Bravo after that save he pulled in the Copa final? The logical thing would be to sell Bravo and invest in MATS as he is the future.
But if it comes down to it, I have a strong feeling we will keep Bravo and sell MATS. Lucho likes his oldies and the club has generally given him what he wants. It would be a foolish move but I hope we atleast get good money for him. A minimum of 50 mil.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
I like our moves this window so far. Exactly the sort of signings I have always wanted us to make. Young and talanted with a lot of upside potential. May not all work out and majority may turn out duds but it is better than signing grandpas for exorbitant sums( Lucho's method).
So far we have signed Umtiti, locked down Marlon Santos( supposed to be a very good CB prospect), actively pursuing Jesus, interested in Vietto and Carrasco.
If the likes of Benfica and Seville can do it, so should we.

Is there any chance of anyone breaking through from La Masia this season?

Not as long as Lucho is in charge. The transition from B to the first team is very tricky and players needs coaches who trust them and are willing to give them chances.

Thats good.
Also, RG, I think Kaptoum has a chance. He's played a few times in Copa and done pretty well which leads me to believe he can feature in the first team's pre season and gain Lucho's trust.

That's only if don't sign Gomez. We are trying to sell Turan, then use that to sign Gomez and then loan out Samper.
Btw, we just signed Lucas Digne for 12M according to multilple sources, on a 5 year deal. He has been signed to rotate with Alba, and Adriano will likely get sold to Lazio. So pretty much he is Adriano's replacement.

Not true, apparently Ter Stegen is gonna start all La Liga and Champions League games starting next season, and Bravo can either accept and get the Pinto role or might get sold to City.
I have to hand to to our new sports director, he is making sure the club gets younger. Lucho is the one that wanted to keep faith in veterans and it looks like Roberto got with Bart and was like dude, f these old guys we need to rebuild the team for many years to come and so far they are moving old guys out and bringing in young talent.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
Vermalean (30) out, Umtiti (22) in
Adriano (31) out, Digne (22) in
Turan (29) out, Gomez (22) in <-rumored
Denis Suarez (22) in
btw, aside from the funds we will get from selling Turan, Adriano, Bartra and Vermalean, we also still have Tello and Song back from loan that we will sell which should help us sign a forward to back up MSN
Over all I have to hand it to Roberto, he is not doing bad at all in his first summer transfer window
The only thing thats blowing my mind is that we aren't at all looking for a right back. Makes no sense to me

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
I think our signings so far have been great, but what about a RB? are we going into the season with vidal (who apparently lucho doesn't like) and roberto (who, despite how good he has gotten, is not really a RB)? Surely the board and management must be seeing something I'm not. There haven't been any rumors about us signing a RB and I'm starting to get worried
Pretty sure we're going to get a striker/midfielder though. Would be happy with that

Which ones? I think so far our window has been the best in ages. the only thing that doesn't make sense the neglect of the right back but all other areas that needed to be address are being attended to, plus dead wood is being shaved off.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
I agree with windkick. This window has been well thought out and the best one in ages. And Roberto has done a stellar job so far.
We have brought in one young CB who can potentially start with a lot of upside potential. Something we have been crying out for ages.
Have brought in another young CB prospect for the B who can potentially start for the first team.
Digne for the rotation with Alba. Rumored to be after Jesus. All in all, the moves make a lot of sense and most importantly we are trying to get younger across the pitch. Lucho doesnt give a damn about the long term prospects and stability of the club. All he cares about is short term success and boosting his CV. He would have run us into the ground.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
It looks now like we are turning our attention to Vietto, again another young guy with a big up side. Solid back up forward.
If Turan leaves and Gomez arrives I will be very satisfied.
And I honestly wouldn't be shocked if last second we bring in a right back. The club might be trying to make it sound like we aren't in for one so clubs don't jack up asking prices
to be noted, Tello is going to start his pre season with us because Fiorentina hasn't met our asking price. Too bad he doesn't want to stick around, but I totally get it he doesn't want to be a back up at his age.

Re: Transfer Rumours V6
- Needed a midfielder = signed none (unless you're counting on that flop Turan)
- Needed a back up forward = signed none (I hear Sandro has left too btw)
- Needed a RB = signed none
I think people have forgotten why Barcelona *bleep* up the season right at the end. Reason number one: players were fatigued. Front three playing every match, so did the midfield and tbh and oh coming to think of it so did your defenders. Absolutely no rotation whatsoever because Lucho didn't trust the subs for some reason.
Iniesta is 32, he can't play every match any more. Is the coach relying on Turan and Rafinha to fill in? Turan was very bad last season and also during Euro 2016, the guy even looks overweight from eating too many döner kebabs. Rafinha, like his brother, could be another injury prone player whom you can't rely on. Not too long ago no midfield came close to Barça's, I dare say these days quite a few teams surpass yours.
Who is going to fill Dani Alves' gap? He has been one of your best and most consistent players, probably a better ball controller than some of your midfielders like Rakitić. And yet you have signed nobody. I'm taking Sergi Roberto is going to be your RB next season, hilarious
All in all the only good thing about Barcelona's season has been lack of an ugly sponsor on your shirt, which let's face it, will eventually appear on it.
