on winning the award: "it's really an honour to win the first African player award. Not the best, but the first". Really humble words from Riyad.

Re: Mahrez for POTY
Think he'll probably stay at Leicester actually. Assuming they buy good players and fix some big holes in the team, it's possible.
Would be horrible for the NT if he just moved and got benched right away, Fegs, Slimani and Brahimi are great but our team is built around mahrez.

I think it is far more likely he will leave. Is his buyout known?

is there a reason why he is getting no interest this summer?

Most PL clubs have been quiet ( not sure about Europe, haven't paid attention) things will pick up after the Euros.

Re: Mahrez for POTY
It is strange. I thought he would move to Chelsea (still can see it btw). Seeing their interest in Payet they are looking at a player like him its pretty obvious.
PSG also appears a likely candidate.
Hopefully he will stay at Lester.

He said himself he will never go to PSG. Lol @ Chelsea. He's not going there either. There's a good chance he'll stay

Re: Mahrez for POTY
yeah, i agree with Moal. Just surprised I haven't seen any bullshit merchants making up stuff either. I don't see any top club buying him though. Think he could do worse than stay at Leicester and have another decent season, show he wasn't a one season wonder and secure a big move next summer.

Re: Mahrez for POTY
Again, he isn't a one season wonder. Before this season, he played very well, he just lacked that end product and was not used to the league just yet. Also, he was really selfish, just like Brahimi is.
Brahimi and Mahrez really play alike btw. Mahrez actually passes nowadays. Brahimi just keeps dribbling

Don't forget, he also went away to the Africa Cup of Nations mid season. When he came back, he looked absolutely knackered.
As for the lack of interest this summer, I would imagine that there are several factors contributing to this.
First of all, I would expect Leicester to have slapped a fairly hefty price tag on him. Mahrez signed a new deal last summer, already tying him to the club until 2019. Prior to that, I believe I remember hearing reports of a pretty low buy-out clause.
Secondly, rumors are that Leicester have offered him a new deal putting his wages north of £100,000. This combined with the opportunity to defend the title could mean that he's not particularly interested in pushing for a move away.
Finally, I have a feeling that the one season of stellar production being preceded by a much more erratic showing has put some clubs off. There's no doubting his skill at this point. However, he's shown himself to be somewhat erratic in his production Granted, this is for understandable reasons: a less-than top-class manager, in a system that did not particularly suit him, first season in PL, a mid-season national tournament, etc. Even so, I would expect that he'd be on many teams' wish lists, albeit not their first option. With several major tournaments taking place this summer, many of the "big boys" of club football have delayed their shopping sprees. I would expect interest to ramp up later in the window once several clubs have missed their top targets (assuming Mahrez doesn't sign a new deal with Leicester).

Re: Mahrez for POTY
I'm not surprised. Those African teams play kickboxing, not football. Guarentee you if we had European refs they would have protected us and not allowed something like 30+ fouls against us in one game (Ivory Coast) in fact it would've probably been an Algeria-Tunisia final but that's off topic so yeah.

I'm just wondering how this inconsistency of his is affecting his prospects in this summer's market.
Two bad games and it's game over, even though after he was phenomenal with Algeria. I'm seriously done with some of you guys.
There was absolutely NO NOISE here when Vardy scored 1 in 8 before this game besides his England game and now it's the end of the world because Mahrez has a couple bad games.
Hmm hmm... Four games into the season and all that Mahrez has done is score a penalty against Hull. Fennec, are you still beating his drum like he's already a superstar?

James Milner, a makeshift LB, kept Mehrez in his back pocket like a cinema ticket stub. Tour is over for Mehrez before it began.

Re: Mahrez for POTY
He looked more motivated in '14-'15 than he has looked this season. Ranieri is too nice a man, the moment his players aren't self-motivated, they just aren't motivated. The whole Leicester team are looking like they're quite happy to be mediocre this season.

Re: Mahrez for POTY
Leicester's 16/17 CL campaign is an extension of Leicester's 15/16 league campaign IMO.
Doesn't belong to the general 16/17 season. That's why they're on route to win this thing

Re: Mahrez for POTY
His season has been up and down. Leicester as a whole have struggled, largely due Morgan and Huth being absolutely shocking on the ball, King and Amartey being a poor midfield two (decent players but they have looked out of place in a 4-4-2).
Slimani has changed the whole dynamic of that team with that man city game, and vardy is back at his fiery best. Mahrez is just like ozil, he's a luxury player and he needs to take control of games to be truly world class. But he's close.
