Summer Transfer Window 2020
The summer transfer window is still few months away, but there’s no harm in discussing about it, right! Right.
Let’s talk about outgoings first, shall we! Among the first-team players; Lonergan, Clyne, Lallana and Shaqiri are certain to leave. Lovren looks odds-on favourite to join them as well. Whether he signs an extension or not, Wijnaldum is staying for another season. Wilson, Grujic and Chirivella will be on their way out as well. Based on their performances in the reminder of the season and in the pre-season, Brewster and Phillips may be loaned out or inducted into the squad. Other loaned out players will either be sold, if possible, or loaned out again.
If, Origi leaves then we are definitely having another attacker.
Our squad for next season may look somewhat like this:
Alisson
Adrian
Grabara
Kelleher
VVD
Gomez
Matip
Phillips/SvdB/KJH
Robertson
Lewis/Larouci
TAA
Williams
Fabinho
Wijnaldum
Milner
Keita
Henderson
AOC
Jones
Firmino
Mane
Salah
Minamino
Origi/New Signing
Whoever we sign, I expect it will be done very early in the window.

Do you think we will sign a new 4th choice CB should Lovren leave? Gomez and Matip are pretty injury prone..

And fullback cover? Should we get someone or just use the kids + Gomez/Milner, I mean it's working fine for 2 seasons now

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
I am worried about Gini. I am not worried about losing Shaqiri, Lallana, Clyne and Wilson.
Cantwell is not a solution, it'll be like Minamino. We are unlike City where we can afford to have Sane and Mane on the bench as we target trophies this means we need players who accept starting each week is not an option and getting paid less is the reality.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
@BusterLfc, the CB issue did occur to me. But the fact is both Joe and Joel were absolutely tremendous when they play. Would an established player accept being on the bench? So unless we get someone like Toure or Klavan (in the *bleep*-end of their career) we have to depend on the Academy.
The wingback situation is more or less same and the combination of Lewis/Larouci, Williams and Milner are decent cover unless there's some extreme emergency.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
They aren't players you can rely on instantly at the magnitude of our performance nowdays. We don't have players like Jesus or Sane who can warm the bench and win games and it'll quite hard to sign someone when everyone knows 9 spots in the Liverpool 11 is basically fixed.

I agree, but I'd still get a Klavan-like or Toure-like player if Lovren was to leave, just so we don't end up in a situation where Fabinho has to play CB again, considering how much Gomez and Matip are injury prone

Agreed, that way we can be more imposing even in the cups.BusterLfc wrote:iftikhar wrote:@BusterLfc, the CB issue did occur to me. Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
Lallana signing for Brighton.
Lovren signed officially for Lovren.
Gini's contract is still dicey. Hopefully Leeds waits 1 more year before approaching Milner.
If we're selling key players then we need reinforcements, this squad is shit.

Lallana - Brighton - Free - 60k a week
Clyne - Released - 70k a week
Lovren - Zenit - 11 million - 110k a week
Chirivella - Nantes - Free - 30k a week
Lonergan - Released - 25k a week
Freed up 300k a week with these sales.
That said all of them were in the 25 man PL squad.

does anyone have some probable numbers about how much we are getting affected because of empty stadium and why these freed wages and 175m from PL win are not helping us in new signings? Any article or link out there ?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
I had read an article that speculated a reduced income between GBP 40-80 million. Can't find (or remember) the article now. It said (if I remember correctly) that the gate receipt and the TV revenues will take most of the hits.Helmer wrote:Nishankly wrote:Lallana - Brighton - Free - 60k a week

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2020
Not really
DM/DLP:
Fabinho might be stop-gap 4th choice CB
Thiago
CM:
Milner bit-part role
Henderson
Wijnaldum
AM:
AOC dubious fitness record
Naby only starting to assert himself
Curtis just a kid
If you consider fixture congestion, injury, dip in form (Fabinho at the moment) and ambition to contest the cups, diversified roles (AOC/Curtis as attacking options); we have adequate depth.

Jota going to a 41m signing but we are only paying 10% this year. Michael Edwards, what are we doing? He deserves a statue

Absolutely. Edwards finally fulfilling my wish of signing a player who can give rest one of our front three time and again. Also a player Klopp will trust

he does not seem like a player who can play Firmino's role. But he can play in the front three with Salah as striker and Jota on either wings.
Firmino is too unique of a player

I'm a bit disappointed with the slow place in offloading the surplus players. Harry Wilson to Burnley? Have those buggers ever paid more that 10 mil for a player?
