You need grit, steel and unreal squad depth to play 2 games a week throughout the season in the Championship. Technical attributes wont cut it.

Plus, when teams go down they always lose a lot of players too, so not only do they have to grow their squad, but they have to replace a bunch of players too

You won't be so happy when they beat us in our game in hand in a week and a half (which you just know they will)
If we beat Arsenal next week, there is no way we'll lose to Leicester. Jose won't allow it.

He allowed a home loss to crappy Sunderland last season when 4 wins in our final 4 games would have won us the title. He's not invincible.

But these recently relegated clubs should still be in pole position to acquire some of the better Championship players. The parachute payments are something like £20m a year, that's already more than most clubs' annual turnover in the Championship.
I think the much bigger problem than players leaving is that the squads tend to be in decline and regress even further when they get relegated. The players lose their best motivation or the squad has been poorly managed without attention to the future. Fulham would be the ideal example of that when they loaded their squad up with 30-something big-name has-beens in the Prem.
I find this phenomenon quite fascinating how so many of these recently-in-the-Prem clubs seem to do their squad planning so badly and how much some of the players in their late-20's and early-30's seem to decline when they drop to the Championship from the Premiership. It's like they give up.

Obviously thats one of the major reasons. Same thing happens when they get promoted as well into prem. Burnley is the biggest example of that. The level of their players is nowhere compared to rest of the league and yet their drive and desire alone is helping them win against even teams like city. The money these teams get when get relegated and the players they buy with it wont be relevant if those same players arent bothered about the club. And most of the time the managers of these clubs at the time of relegation or after they reach the lower league plays an important factor as well.

I'm interested to see how many empty seats there will be today.
No the club will lie through their teeth about the actual numbers though.

So, Newcastle City council health & safety official figure for yesterday was 30,075.
Which means over 22,000 people boycotted

The way the Chelsea fans treated him was class, too.
One of those tails where, despite moving to a rival, he is still loved at Chelsea.
The man is class so it's impossible to hate him, regardless.

Newcastle even worse than I thought. Lost their last 6 games with 2:12 goal difference.
