Welbeck may not be the Super Star signing we wanted but let’s give the guy a chance.
Welcome Welbeck, I believe you will change the heart of many Gunners.
Campell and Welbeck up front, will cause havoc in EPL.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
The main positive I see from this is that more English players will be together at Arsenal, where they will be taught how to properly play football
Still, I refuse to believe that this isn't a panic buy now that Giroud is injured and nobody else was available. Pretty frustrating deadline day.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
He's got it because he's dat guy.
£16million and he could become our Sturridge. Wenger won't have to babysit him like Balotelli and he's just as capable of holdup play as Giroud + he's much much pacier.
Excited to see how he develops, think he'll surprise many of the dissenting fans.
Hardworking, professional and yet another added to the British core.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
As much as I hope that he excels here, setting the bar at a 'Sturridge' level is too optimistic. Sturridge was a lot more prolific prior to joining Liverpool than Welbeck was for Man Utd, and Sturridge also supposedly cost Liverpool less. I don't want to sound too upset by the transfer but too optimistic can be just as annoying.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
How was Sturridge more prolific? lol He had two season where he scored 8 and 11 league goals. 8 and 13 in total respectively. Welbeck and Sturridge's stats are basically the same before Sturridge joined Liverpool

You clearly overrate Sturridge before joining Liverpool/underrate Welbeck prior to joining us.
He's got all the right attributes to have a renaissance transformation with us, hence the comparison to Sturridge. Not that he'll go on some ridiculous scoring streak or that he's of comparable style.

Guys they are both different players. Sturridge was always a 9 while Welbeck has been played for different roles all his career.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
how do I feel about signing Danny welbeck on the final day of transfer season? Let me kick some knowledge on yall and give you a quote.
Hey look, at the end of the day, we signed Sanchez, Debuchy, Chambers , Ospina AND Welbeck. Could we have signed a DM and a CB? sure, but its not the end of the world.
People save yourself from this meltdown. We are not playing badly because of the players (the same crop who nearly won us the title last year btw if it wernt for injuries), but the team itself needs time to get back into shape. For our system to thrve, our entire team needs to be on the same level.
Arsenal will be there abouts in the title run come april-may i think. What happens after that is anybody's guess.
ps: I dont know much about Welbeck, but I am certain, he probably offers MUCH more than Sanogo.
And love is a homeless guy searching for treasure in the middle of the rain and finding a bag of gold coins and slowly finding out they're all filled with chocolate and even though he's heart broken, he can't complain because he was hungry in the first place.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
Gutted that he's gone. Just see the reaction of United fans to see how much we valued him. You're getting a very good young player, with a ceiling to improve.
What's fascinating is the amount of Arsenal fans all over Twitter saying how much they rated Welbeck and like him now that he is at Arsenal. Yeah, the same set of people that used to clown him when he was with us.
Would like to wish him the best, but then I'd be lying.

Well it is similar in that, Welbeck has pretty much always been a 9, no? He did play different positions, but they weren't ones that really suited him. Same with Sturridge, he was getting pushed out wide all the time before Liverpool where he was allowed to play more centrally more often right?

Theirry Henry- minus the clinical finishing. No jokes. Not saying he is as good as Henry, or that he would turn out to be as good, but that his style of play reminds me of Henry. Fast, direct, good technique, good hold up play, hard working.
If Wenger can sort out his composure in front of goal (his biggest weakness) Then you'll have a great young player in your hands.

Re: Danny Welbeck - Gunner Galactico
I know good sir. Hahah. But, we need some spiritual influence to help reassure that your prediction/comparison comes to fruition.
Arsenal is a club that likes to give unproven commodities a chance to advance and develop. If we sign mercenaries at every position, young guys will never get a chance and any decent talent we have or other clubs have will never have a chance with us and spend their careers on loan.
As GL Arsenal legend Lex has said many times, albeit it was in defense of Giroud, "Who was Henry before Arsenal? Some random Juventus flop kicking around in Ligue 1"
You don't always need a player who is already WC, clubs like yours and arsenal, can turn many players who may not have amounted to much otherwise, into star players, as both have done many times before. The situation at United was unkind to Welbeck, but there is a reason why GOAT Manager Sir Alex had so much faith in him, and I am convinced would have never in a million years done this deal had he still been manager, because you never know what certain players may become in the right scenario. And you never know how certain players may adapt under certain conditions surrounded by a certain group of players. Basically, Welbeck is falling into the perfect scenario here, at our team. He fits in with our players perfectly, and as you said, shows some shades of Henry, even. We just need to give him a chance, and hope for the best here. Because that is what this team has done pretty much forever.
Hope that made sense because I am a bit drunk atm

Some of the stuff in this thread.
Would love Welbeck to finally break this Arsenal-Utd hoodoo and lead Arsenal to a win against Utd this season. They deserve it for how badly they treated Welbeck. Absolute scum of a club when it comes to young local players.
