Zubi has been sacked by Athletic because he was too incompetent to scout players within a single region in Spain since Athletic only sign Basque players. It's a piss take that this guy and an unelected president are running Barcelona right now. Every random fan on this forum would do better (free_cat excluded, I don't need to see Pedro first name on the team sheet).

I've despised this signing since he arrived. But now that his parts are fixed, or so we've been told, I'm keen to learn what he can offer, or where he'd optimally fit. Yet, amidst the enthusiasm, I don't quite believe he'll feature in the games that remain, given the title race could very much go down to the wire.

I don't think he will start any games remaining, maybe a sub here and there.

To be honest the CB position is now over stuffed. We don't need 5 players there. Barbra is decent and should feature some time to develop. He has been playing better than his minutes would suggest.

Why we couldnt spend that 20m on some young guy I will never know.

I personally would never criticise anyone for trying to experiment with a young talent when you already filled up the numerical need (adding Mathieu did that)

Pep did it with Chygrynskiy, and while it ended up as an expensive highly ridiculed failure, we still had the numbers at the back to not use him (Pique, Puyol, Marquez, Milito plus Abidal) and while he proved to not be good enough, I never faulted the effort or idea.

I hear we are going for Laporte.
We could have done this last year instead of Verm.
Would be more expensive sure, but he would actually kick the ball

Why isn't he given chance? It's tough u know we actually have so much quality in that department in Mathieu and Masche. its tough to replace these guys when they are dominating teams week in and week out. Hope lucho rests these legends for game or two and give a shot to this poor guy. Quite difficult imo hmm

He has done just fine when played, so the problem my guess is physically. He is probably fine in training, he is probably fine to play once every couple weeks, but many players get to where they cant play once a week, let alone 2 or 3 like it can be at Barca.

That's ok, BC, it's a good start and I'm proud of you for trying.

You will learn to not have to use the hands at some point, I'm sure.

Like we didn't know he was an injury machine before signing him. Congratulations Bart, Zubi and Luis Enrique (if he took part in this signing).

In a match with no offensive pressure from the opposition, Vermaelen managed to lose his man (Iturbe) and leave him 1 vs 1 against Ter Stegen, cause a penalty, and twice let Dzeko head balls into the 6 yard box (one resulting in a goal).

But as he is around 30 he'll get a free pass from Luis Enrique.
