How good is Vermaelen?

He is a bit of a modern CB, very complete defender, great on the ball but may lack a bit of size.

How does he compare to the best in England and the best in Europe?

Where does he lack in size? Guy is physical. TS level, if doesnt get injured all the time

He is 182cm, although he has great vertical jump

i would say a lite version of Vidic..... with a little more attacking power in him

Top 15 for sure. Needs to be fit for a longer time though. Hopefully he will be fit now.

I'd like him next to Cannavaro. Not happening but you see where I'm coming from.

When he was fit Arsenal's defense was solid.

Once he was injured... we all know the story. Very good defender, needs to prove much more in order to be WC, though.

Imo, Vermaelen and TS will be competing for best CB in the world after well known old guard retires. They have it to take down Pique and Chiellini, who are currently up in pecking order for becoming best in the world.

How good he is? just look what is happening to Arsenal with out him.
I think he has proven he can be one of the best but injuries slowed him down. If he can stay healthy he is one hell of player.

World Class for me......He is an amazing player, I would love him at Pool or Madrid

I think he is a WC defender with incredible potential and I really hope his injuries will be behind him from now on..

IMO he has potential but currently he's no where near WC. Also needs to be consistent with injuries.

When fit? One of the best around. Absolutely world class. But unfortunately that doesn't happen too often [him being fit].

Top Defender, but not WC yet. Shame about the injuries

Need time to judge him tbh.He looked good in his first season but wasnt great by any stretch of imagination.Remember Drogba bossing him when they played Chelsea and having a real poor game in that loss to Barca iirc.Though tbf to him these things can happen to the best of defenders like Vidic.

He missed most of last season and then started this season superbly (Was great against Liverpool ) but injured unfortunately once again.

So calling him world class is bit overating.He still needs a lot to prove or atleast needs to be fit to prove himself imho
