EPL are notorious for this stuff though lol.  They went on and on that the Martial deal was only 50 mil... and then the official books were published and it was 90 mil when you tag on the bonuses (all other than 5 mil have already been earned lol).

Same with Bale... the story was that we paid 130 mil or something for him.  Well Madrid have to make the books public as they aren't a private company.  And in the end, it was 100 mil.

So please excuse us for not paying any attention to the UK media.  They are the worse.

btw, 59 mil pounds is 65.5 mil euros + add ons. so it seems that even the UK media are saying this is a 80 mil euro deal.

Real Madrid fans are celebrating the transfer fee of a player they sold more than Chelsea fans are celebrating that player or fans of other clubs celebrate their signings.

Morata is quality. 60, 70, 80M. All would be significantly higher than what you think would be his cost but this sport has already hinged upon hilarity in terms of fees, particularly for forwards.

Conte knows Morata. I think he'll do quite well. I think there's a 25-30 goal scorer per year in there somewhere but I don't think we'll see it, personally.

I genuinely believe that Conte was reading my comments about Morata and felt he had to make Chelsea pay up; while Perez felt reassured his asking price was justified

I don't know where you're coming from with 120m, 130m for Bale...unless you're just adding GL tax? All of the news at the time were reporting it was 100m and I recall there was a bunch of back and forth about whether the fee was actually bigger than C. Ronaldo's or not. If it had been 120, 130m it obviously wouldn't have even been a question.

Madrid did well on Morata business wise but as usual I'm expecting if Madrid end up moving on James and Bale he'll probably forget the transfer fees originally paid (mind you, astronomically high for both), set an arbitrary cutoff date for that summer and talk about how they managed to move Bale and James for 100m and use that money to buy Mbappe for "zero net spend" "wow florentino"

I am happy to finally have a resolution to the issue of the summer.

Happy to have sorted the three biggest issues.
