While he is a bright player it does not make him exempt from criticism in failing to show up often for Porto often. Credit to him, he finally started performing for Monaco in his final 6 months while the rest were below-par.

The World Cup should not abolish all previous opinion of a player based on a number of matches which are not even in the highest level of football.

I agree about this opinion , I had said also on chat time ago.
The hype about the players based on WC omitting the elapsed season is a historic vice of football fans.

James Rodriguez is a Great talent and so it can be more forgiven , but anyway you can even read ppl who puts him now as top 5 players in the world when he hadn't same consideration before of WC

It would be curious to see how much ppl rated him highly as now

of course the list includes worse cases, because at least James Rodriguez has an amazing talent.
