Kneejerk Colombia Appreciation Thread
Matchdays 7 & 8 looked incredibly tough for a Colombia that seemed stuck in the playoff spot for the Conmebol WC Qualification matches. Uruguay, and then Chile. Both teams were higher up in the group and Colombia is still feeling out their new coach. The result?
Colombia 4-0 Uruguay
Chile 1-3 Colombia
Falcao, coming off of his GOAT performance vs. Chelsea did well but Teo Gutierrez has been the biggest difference maker. Also, James is the future. World team of the Week, has to go to Colombia this week.

Pekerman showing his true worth
Had he only not subbed out Riquelme
Also if Colombia don't make the WC then it'll be a major fail, we have 5 WC spots this time including Brazil.

But the US players would have been the reason he would get sacked.

Well this is based on two games. Before these, we lost to Ecuador on the last matchday, so I wasn't all too excited. But now, Vamos Colombia!!!!!!!!Zealous wrote:Knee jerk opinions are based on one game, this is clearly a lasting trend

Falcao is the only player I know.
Who are their star players?
Don't they have a Benitez? He's a striker that's highly rated isn't he?

Re: Kneejerk Colombia Appreciation Thread
As long as we can qualify, I would be ecstatic since I plan to be there (Brasil 2014). We don't have a true AM that could supply Falcao as effectively as I would hope, but the defensive performance they showed in the last 2 games is promising. A few years ago, the consensus as an opponent used to be that if you scored 1 goal against Colombia, you were fine because there attack was nonexistent. Under Pekerman, they seem to be reversing both of these stigmas, but the true test will be to maintain this form through qualification. There are still many games to be played.Zealous wrote:I was half joking lol

In the last 2 years, he has truly begun to find his prime. So u can hate, but if he keeps this form up for the next 2 years (and why wouldnt he?), I guess it'll still be funny for you?Crimson wrote:It's funny considering how shit Falcao has been for Colombia genrally.

Last two years at club level yes but for Colombia he has been shit.
I think he has scored in like 6 or so games for Colombia in the last 2 years, scored only 1 goal in the 2010 WCQ.
Great player in the Euro's, can be amazing at club level, but for Colombia usually and more often than not utter crap.

Re: Kneejerk Colombia Appreciation Thread
So what? There are many players that don't play as good at club level than for their NT side. Take Messi and Ronaldo for example - the best two players in the world. Sure, Messi is finally finding some form for Argentina but he's still A LOT better for Barcelona.
