Who will go through
WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
One of these teams has a golden chance to make semis atleast
Should be good but Colombia are slight favorites imo

Imagine losing to a Hames-less Colombia team.

Colombia 100%.
Their attack is dangerous and unpredictable. They play with flair and creativity.
England's only chance is to somehow keep them out and get a goal on a set-piece. In open play they're one the worst teams remaining in the competition.

Hopefully people can STFU about Rashford/Vardy starting over Sterling.
RLC looks good, should start again or sub in at half time if the midfield get overrun. Watching Dier for 90 mins makes me realize how important a scrub like Henderson is for England. Starting to actual rate him now

Colombia are a panic station in defense at times
As @Mole pointed out, Colombia's 1v1 defending isnt very good and they're prone to brainfarts
If Hames misses out, England should fancy this tbh

Only football that is going back to Argentina is the ball they kept from the beating he would receive from Pogba and co.

Man we are harsh with England ( and righfully so ) but this is their best chance to reach the WC semi . On paper this team is better than Colombia , who has more grit but time to show what they are made of. Finishing second is a blessing in disguise and anything but the semis would be a failure .

They sure didn't look it today, if anything they were lucky Senegal didn't beat them.
I'm not scared by them in the slightest, if they beat us we don't deserve to go any further than the second round anyway.

Re: WC 2018 | Round of 16 | England Vs Colombia
Depends if James is fit or not. They missed him against Senegal.
Our midfield doesn't cover space very well and I think James and Quintero would get plenty of opportunities to get on the ball in front of our defence.
I also worry that if they put on a press, we'll make mistakes while trying to play out of the back.
In open play we've been terrible against scrubs like Panama and Tunisia and Belgium's B-team with two attacking midfielders playing as wing-backs. I don't see this drastically improving against Colombia.
Across all three games we've made about three good chances from open play. That's rubbish.

James started, if anything they were better without him tbh. If he's not fit i'd prefer he plays over someone who can actually contribute because they are healthy.
This isn't true, we created more than that in the first 10 minutes of ours first game
Your Arsenal negativity is carrying over to England

Check the shot maps. Lingard was the only play versus Tunisia to have big chances from open play (two by my count - his other two shots were more difficult chances). We made zero big open play chances against Panama and only one against Belgium today (Rashford's chance).

Before today's game, we had only seven shots from open play. Against Tunisia and Panama. The xG for open play shots was 0.79... not even worth a single goal.

I mean, I don't want to be negative but these are terrible numbers no matter how you look at it. Hence my belief that set-pieces are the only way we're going to win.

That wasn't the case today, like at all. They were absolutely awful with James on the pitch and were much better when he went off.
Same case in the first game against Japan, they were much better without him.
I didn't watch the Poland game but from the games i've seen they've undoubtedly been better without him so far.

So Sterling missing an open goal doesn't count? i don't know about the stats but we should have been 3 or 4 up by half time against Tunisia and we scored 6 in our following game
I don't think we are great at creating chances but it's far better than the numbers you have are painting.
Also seeing as the Belgium game is irrelevant all this is ignoring the fact we went up against two teams who didn't really want to push forward at all.
Colombia will leave space so i expect to see more chances from open play created.

Can't agree with the Japan match which is a strange one to pick out considering they lost and played with ten men for 85 minutes
For Poland, he was the man of the match and objectively the best player on the field, strange this is the match you didn't get to see
Against Senegal, he was quite poor. I think he got injured quite early on and tried his best to continue which again, he came off 30 minutes into the game
James is objectively the most talented player on Colombia, there is no single player they would rather have available than him against England or anyone else. It's just a shame that he's clearly not fit for this tournament

When fit i agree, but if he's not fit i feel like they are better without him.
a 50% healthy player is no good to anyone.
