Lovren is so bad for the level we want to be in. He's not better than any of our current CB's (with the exception of Kolo). Skrtel is bad but Lovren is not any sort of upgrade.

Ric Rod I completely agree on. Probably the best all around LB available. Would be better value for money than Moreno.

I think we have discussed it before. The chairman from Wolfsburg has already said they do not want to sell him irrespective of the offers and the price quoted by some journos was also high, like 25m Euro or something. They themselves are targetting CL football, which they narrowly missed last season. They are trying to build a team there. He has 3 years left on his contract+he doesnt have so much experience outside BL and 1 proper season where he performed good. So it is difficult to see our committee spending that much on such a player.

25m euros is pretty much a little less than 20m pounds which we were negotiating for Moreno at around that fee. And it's not like Moreno is your most experienced player, eh?

I understand the biggest hurdle would be Wolfsburg wanting to keep him specially since they don't really need the money.

They were probably both their teams's best players last night.

Not sure what game you were watching, but Kuyt was awful. Most attacks died at his feet, and while his workrate has always been commendable he was out of his depth in the WC. Vlaar was far and away the best Dutch player, though Mascherano was definitely the MotM...without him Robben maybe scores two goals (though there was no foul called when Mascherano blatantly obstructed him).

Not sure which game you were watching, Kuyt was great. Defended his flank great (so much for the Blind hype, lol) and made some good interceptions and kept the ball well and was actually the one Dutch player who looked to play key passes on the ground (the move to Robben's late chance which Mascherano blocked was initiated by a Kuyt pass). Maybe Vlaar was the best player for the Dutch, but Kuyt was right behind him.

I agree with Art, thought Kuyt was one of the best players on the pitch yesterday.

The guy is a frickin forward playing both RWB and LWB in a world cup semi final. It's beyond amazing how exceptionally well he did.

It's just romanticism. Kuyt didn't do anything positive really. They gave him a ton of space because they didn't respect him to do anything (the number of balls he gave away in attack was pretty unacceptable). Not that there were many better options, but yeah -- he was far from one of the best players yesterday. Also defending his flank lol...he was barely involved.
