Re: The World Cup Thread
Henry dude will go furious if FIFA takes any action at club level and I am sure he wont tolerate it and take some action against it. He is a businessman and wont let his prime asset depreciate like this

Re: The World Cup Thread
Actually, FIFA can do nothing on the domestic front... only internationally. BUT, UEFA typically follows whatever domestic or international sanctions and applies them to European competitions. There is a clause in every governing body, FIFA, UEFA, leagues, etc., where a player's behavior outside of its competition is grounds for punishment if they feel that it has a negative impact on the brand and values of its own competitions. Legally, Liverpool would have no recourse. It happens rarely... but it's happened before. In this case, i can see it being applied to Suarez.

Re: The World Cup Thread
do you have any example, where a player did something on international level and repercussions came to club level ?

Re: The World Cup Thread
Here's an example... 4 players in the pro league in Australia were charged with match fixing in their domestic league. FIFA gave all the players an international ban:

Rio Ferdinand got busted for refusing a drug test during a FIFA event in 2003 and UEFA extended the FIFA ban to cover UEFA events too:

Re: The World Cup Thread
thanks
good then, BR must start to plan the season without Suarez and transfer committee must get thier shit together to get someone who can help that 31 goal void. Everyone must be so furious right now
Only Steve Peters must be having fun, that he got a very interesting case to handle

Re: The World Cup Thread
Match fixing and drug testing are on sooooooooo many levels above biting someone, it's not even close.
Biting isn't dangerous. Biting isn't career threatening. The only thing it is, is that it's sooo *bleep* weird.

I think you missed the post in the GS on how biting can kill someone or end their Career.
But then again it was probably one of the butthurt Italians blaming Suarez for their countries failures. That premature will Italy become the best team ever if they win the WC thread LOL, haven't made it out of the groups in the last 2 attempts.

I wouldn't quite call that "typically". More importantly, are there any instances of them doing it for on the field offenses? Even assaults outside typical poor challenges don't ever receive this type of punishment as far as I know (think Zidane's headbutt); even something UEFA is involved in like the racism campaign didn't see John Terry suspended for CL games when he got banned for that. Seems to me like it would be fairly unprecedented, even if FIFA technically can do it.

I think it is more about FIFA setting an example for others. That is how they might think about it and take some weird action. On a logical basis, it ban should not be more than 5 matches. There are worse things which happen in football

Re: The World Cup Thread
A 9 game ban would of been an example.
4 months banned from club level is just a joke.
There's no chance we're making top 4 with this current squad if he's suspended for that long.

Ecuador's other Valencia?
If we're still looking for a keeper, there have been a few outstanding performers, but I dunno.
Sanchez has been good, if there's a chance of getting him as part of the Suarez deal, sure.

Re: The World Cup Thread
If we are selling Suarez we should atleast make a bid for Rodriguez.Even 30 mil is worth it imo.
Sanchez + Shauqiri + Rodriguez for Suarez is very good deal for me

So you mean
Gerrard-Hendo-Lallana
Hames-Studge-Sanchez
Coutinho and Sterling rotating with them, it looks better than (Suarez+fear of getting banned every now and then)

Have we gone frracking nuts to sign 3 players from Southampton we should at least wait before how much cash we get for Suarez and change our targets accordingly

Re: The World Cup Thread
Lovren is so bad for the level we want to be in. He's not better than any of our current CB's (with the exception of Kolo). Skrtel is bad but Lovren is not any sort of upgrade.
Ric Rod I completely agree on. Probably the best all around LB available. Would be better value for money than Moreno.
