I would be surprised (and disappointed) if Wenger didn't get a young CB or two this summer. But I'm really skeptical of reports about a big signing in in that position (e.g. Mangala), simply because Kos & Mert make such a good partnership and still have a few years ahead of them. I'm not saying there aren't good defenders who might be individually better than one of them - but the chemistry of the two starting CBs we have is a special thing that Arsenal haven't had for years. Why upset it? I don't think Wenger will - he's willing to bench the club captain to preserve it, in fact. So I would figure Wenger is looking at young defenders who will cost less than £10 million and can be groomed to gradually take over.

There's no exact return date yet AFAIK, but he made a step forward today - he trained with a small group of players, some short passes followed by individual training.

No complaints over the acquisition of Özil, but I was a big proponent of getting Higuain last summer. I'm still a little sad it didn't work out.

Palmeri news - wanna take bets? Will it be
(a) new contract(s) being signed by someone
(b) something financial/commercial
(c) Theo is superhumanly ahead of schedule on his recovery
(d) report of intent - but only "intent" - of a big transfer by Arsenal; war chests & all that
(e) M'Vila to have medical in 48 hours

I'm sure it's not what everyone probably hopes it is, for instance, "Arsenal have agreed a deal for Cavani this summer."

The jan transfer window is already closed what can the news be that could possibly excite us? i don't care about the summer, that is next season and everyone else is going to get stronger. This was our chance, next season is going to be way more harder, chelsea will get a striker/ man city will get defenders etc. only thing that would excite me is us getting messi.

To have a COMPLETE squad, we need:

1. a young energetic dm

2. another 3rd/4th choice CB

3.Top striker with pace

4.an alternative to walcott, another pacey winger that can run in behind.

I am giving wenger next summer, we haven't had a complete squad for 9 years. next summer wenger has to make sure there are NO frailties in the fcking squad. Thats the only way we are going to win ANYTHING.

If Sagna leaves Arsenal this summer and it's because the contract offered wasn't good enough, and he wasn't even asking for something totally unrealistic ... I will be so disappointed.

Fabianski turning down a new contract offer was to be expected.

I don't know about Reus, at Werner's age (17) Reus was no where near as good but that could change quickly if his development stalls.

Also Werner is naturally a central striker and only plays on the wing because of Abdellaoue and Ibisevic. It just shows his versatility.
