Platini is French, right? Was there another candidate from France? Could this be affecting these comments?BarrileteCosmico wrote:Platini: "The Ballon D'Or voting extension coincided with the play-off games for Portugal in which Christiano scored a hattrick. It's possible that FIFA chose to do this to appease Cristiano."

Well what everyone already knew is now official
Anyway if Ribery scored a hattrick against Ukraine and Ronaldo got knocked out of the WC by Ibra then none of this would be a problem for anyone lmao

like it matters anyway, one hattrick won't convince the captain of equatorial guinea and coach of bangladesh to change their preferences... seeing as messi ran away with this award in years when he did absolutely *bleep* all i don't see a reason why this should change, especially in favor of a player whose sole achievement is being the top scorer in a competition in which his team got trounced in the semisBarrileteCosmico wrote:Platini: "The Ballon D'Or voting extension coincided with the play-off games for Portugal in which Christiano scored a hattrick. secondly, WHY DOES ANYBODY CARE??? might as well judge who's the best player on the basis of who sells the most shirts, but i'll bet if ronaldo wins it that's all we'll be hearing from the fanboys for the next decade, despite the cries of how illegitimate the award is for the previous 5 years

In 2010, it was debatable [different opinions, close results] yet it doesn't mean he doesn't deserve it. He was the best individually that year without a doubt!

Messi again will be much more fun. Watching Ronaldo and Ribery collapse simultaniously.
Ronaldo will be like "this year is my year" and even attend the whole gala this time. Then Tito Vilanova will enter the room with a ballot in his hand. The camera will pan to Messi sitting in his chair in a Lady Gaga Kermit suit costume. Ronaldo will be sitting next to him and starting to sweat which will ruin his makeup. How Ribery will look like we won't know as his face will be pixelated on TV as kids will be watching the whole gala. Then Tito will open the ballot, call Messi's name, Messi will stand up, hold his usual "not without my teammates ... team trophies more important ... this is for Abidal and Tito yada yada yada" speech. Ronaldo will make funny faces. How Ribery will look like we still won't see. Blatter will say "Sorry Ronaldo, we tried everything we could." Messi will return to Barca's starting XI a few days later and rape Atletico with a hattrick. Everything will be back to normal.

You just cant fight that Ronaldo/messi hype train frank, don't bother stressing about it.
Seriously a farce though, I mean messi can say when the big time came calling he was unfit and the fangirls can cry about how he deserves special allowance, but Ronaldo? wtf did he do against Dortmund? I cant remember anything good he did ffs, what important goals did he score in la liga? barca steamrolled Madrid domestically ffs

what you barca fans don't realize is that it actually damages Messis reputation and appreciation, which deserves to be nothing short of universal and unequivocal, if perception spreads that he gets this award regardless of what actually went on in that year..
but since it seems to be you vs the world anyway (judging comments in this thread) you probably don't care

Us Barca fans? Almost all of us, except for Harmonica who is more of a Messi fan than Barca fan, have said that we don't think that Messi deserves to win this year.
All we have said is that before these last 2 months, Messi had played better than C.Ronaldo this year even though Messi had score a couple of goals less than C.Ronaldo. And that was also the general opinion, proven by the fact that only 3 journalist voted for C.Ronaldo as the best player in europe, while I belive that around 16 journalist voted for Messi and 30+ something voted for Ribery..
