As for reopening the votes, I still think Messi will win IMO. How many people will actually change their votes? Would it be enough for Ronaldo or Ribery to overtake Messi?

I think the reopening of the votes, means that Messi most likely won the award again.

Fifa fear the backlash that would occur if Messi wins the award again so by extending the deadline, they are giving CR a favour.

Or, they will make sure CR wins, so that the Blatter debacle could be put to bed once and for all.

Who should have won the ballon d'or in 2010?

Sneijder? seeing as Milito was named the serie a player of the year and european player of the year, it's fair to say that he wasn't even the best player on his own team.

Iniesta? Iniesta is my favorite player but he missed the entire season thanks to injuries and when he did play for Barca, he was inarguably not good.

Xavi? He has the biggest case going for him. Brilliant for Barca the entire year BUT his performances at the WC was nothing special. Infact I would say that Messi played better than him.

Milito? His chances were fcked thanks to Maradona not playing him at the WC.


2011? what people fail to remember, is that C.Ronaldo was the only the topscorer in the league, but in all competition Messi scored 1 goal more or they were tied. Not to forget Messi's superior all around play that season.

2012? There was no player that stood out as much as Ribery did this season, hence it was easier to win based solely on individual reasons.

Honestly dont care and ribery should win. I just cant wait to see cronaldo win. What makes you stupid and beyond ignorant is the fact that you can't comprehend how global the sport Football is and how far out it reaches. We have plenty of people on this site who have may have never had a local team to follow and support and the first teams they really got to see play were the most famous ones because they were the most televised, so naturally they would want to continue watching that particular team and player.

What your little brain also doesn't take into account is the power of our elders and their knowledge of the game. Their have been many people on this site who have said their, Dad, brother, uncle, grandparent etc have told them stories of the great sides of the past like Milan, Madrid, Bayern, Juve, Barca, Pool, United etc and that is the reason why they follow them and have influenced the younger generation to also follow suit.

Your point is that people change the criteria, am I right? Well, that is exactly what I have not done. For me, the one and only criteria should be the performances that they have given throughout that year, and not just because of goals or titles. For me, Ribery's individual performances has been just brilliant the entire year.
