Gundogan (if fit) or Kroos

That should be our main targets, Ter stegan is a done deal. So next we need a CB & CM. Then, when these players are bought and if the club have enough money... buying a young CB or a defensive minded FB or an experienced CF would be logical.

Why would we sell Pedro or Alexis! That's just stupid, just adding another problem. If Deulofeu returns he'll replace Tello.

It's just saying that in the event said player leaves, those would be our otpions. It's not saying they are leaving. Only the players in black circles are leaving for sure.

Honestly I would be happy with giving Rafinha a run to see if he can take over Xavi's role and then if we feel he isn't ready then loan him again in the winter and buy some one then.

I like Paulinho quite a bit and have mentioned that I wish Barca had signed him instead of Spurs before, but now that he's at Spurs and he cost 17 million pounds, he probably won't come cheaper than 25 million pounds. Spurs never sell cheap, especially a player like Paulinho that can only get better at this point and is already quite a good player and signed for a significant amount.

Too much emphasis on energy and hustle here. I'd take 34 year old Xavi or 35 year old Pirlo over Paulinho anyday.

We already have 34 year old Xavi. No one is talking of getting rid of him we are simply trying to avoid the same catastrophe that happened in the back line by never getting a proper Puyol replacement. It would be like Xavi molding Song to become our future CM. *bleep* that; we can keep Xavi and start building for the future. Like I said, I would be comfy with just rotating Rafinha with Xavi but I know the board wouldn't do that and would want a big name.

He's in a Tottenham side that's playing terribly this season and keeps changing because of upper management incompetence.

Watch him for Brazil and you see a much different player. He's been good and bad this season at times, but I've only seen him play well for Brazil. I have watched more than just a several games from Paulinho, he is good enough. He is not a starter, but seeing him come on is a lot better than seeing Sergi or Song or someone come on.

As for too much hustle and energy. Isn't that kind of what this Barca team needs? I'd take a 34 year old Xavi over Paulinho or a similar player too, but we need some energy, we need some strength and we need some hustle. It's cliche to say since Barca is such a small team physically, but it's true.

According to EMD Thiago Silva was desperate to come to Barcelona. Desperate!

The idea that Dortmund would let Hummels go for € 20M with 3 years left on his contract is laughable. Maybe in Zubi's dreams.

This team needs an over haul.

New GK (only because Valdes is leaving): Complete; Ter Stegen.

Is Pinto leaving? If so...Reina would be a great back up to Ter Stegen, and will help carry the load if Ter Stegen needs time to settle.

New starting CB and starting LB: Mascherano out, and hopefully replace Alba

New back up CB: Since Puyol is leaving.

Rafinha in, JDS/Sergi out

New CM: To take load off Xavi

New attacker: a winger maybe? Never been fond of Alexis and Pedro is on and off. One of them should go, but which one?

If you haven't noticed. They are just replacing the players that are leaving. Bartomeu has promised a goalkeeper (which is a no brainer Rolling Eyes

) and now after Puyol leaves a centerback (which should have happened 3 years ago anyway). Faus talked about 4 signings. Make that ter Stegen, a cheap CB like Fazio and the return of Rafinha and Deulofeu.

Don't see how that changes anything. The major flaws in the squad will remain. No box presence / aerial threat upfront. Extremely susceptible on both flanks with 2 pseudo wingers as fullbacks. Pique not belonging in the starting XI. Fabregas having no fixed place in the team and rotating all over the place which doesn't benefit team cohesion at all. No Xavi replacement who will be 1 year older again (we aren't even linked with anyone, the board must believe Rafinha is the next Xavi - what a deception that will be). Messi sleepwalking. Tactics all over the place.

There is no one at the club who could initiate a proper overhaul. The board doesn't want it as it will cost money (they actually make a profit when they don't pay the bonuses for winning trophies), Zubi is as incompetent as it gets and Martino is another Rijkaard Mr. Nice Guy figure. Prepare for a few years of mediocracy.

TS was there for the taking. I remember reading many of his interviews were he did drop hints for playing for us. The fact is our board has idiots running it. When a nice offer from PSG came, Milan sent him there and I'm sure he did it for the sake of Milan, as they would get a nice price for him. Even at PSG he dropped hints informing us he spoke to Tito and how he admired him, etc, but again his price at the time was around 40M he overlooked him and PSG offered him higher wages. Clubs won't bend over for us and will try to keep their players, especially PSG who's projected isn't all that bad.

The transfermarket has Hummels listed at €26.000.000, offer Dortmund 2 friendlies and we could close this deal. He's also said that Barcelona is one of the 3-4 teams he'd leave Dortmund for.

HUmmels for Pique and another CB. Pique and Hummels will be a disaster. Pique is midd-table player and Hummels cant cover him like Puyol as he is making mistakes himself every once in a while. We will only improve marginally with Hummels if he is partnered with Pique. I prefer him being with Masche or even better Bartra than (this) Pique.

I would be wary to judge on one game, especially when he was playing LB.

I've mentioned before that while he can play LB, he probably shouldn't with us. I've had reservations about his LB playing before.

MD have jumped on the Benatia bandwaggon. I officially feel some movement in my pants. Although I'm fairly certain their writers are just reading fan forums (especially this one, especially my high quality posts) and replicate the opinions and Zubi still doesn't even know Benatia. But nevertheless, it's a start.

Was anyone else surprised by the performance of Vermaelen at leftback?

Robben didnt get much out of him at all, even in the 1 v 1.

Based on that performance, if cheap, I wouldnt complain if he was the "defensive leftback". Of course he can play CB too, but I wouldnt want him to be the only defensive signing.

Verm and Alba (LB) , Dani and Adriano (RB) and Pique, Bartra, new guy and Verm as 4th choice CB might be a decent set of defenders.
