He didn't join Liverpool, because Chelsea are better simple as.

But i suppose its easier for Brenton to blame it on money.

He didn't join Liverpool because the owners weren't willing to match Spurs bid for him... that's what Rodgers' quote was referring to. Chelsea weren't even in for Willian when we dropped out of the race for his signature.

You're not getting it.. BR is saying that we backed out of Willian deal because it was not affordable to us financially and not for football reasons. He didn't blame Willian for not joining us.

Dude did you not read what I wrote. Rodgers was speaking from our end of things. What he was saying is that 'financially we weren't willing to enter a bidding race, and that in footballing terms we could've fit Willian in the team just fine'.

He wasn't saying it in terms Willian's decision being financial and not footballing.

Well. Lamela looks to be all but done. Wonder if they'll look for another top left wide man. Even though the team looks great. They surely can't bank on Chadli to be the direct Bale replacement.

Willian was always a luxury purchase, but Eriksen is still out there just waiting for someone to pluck him from Ajax before the window closes.

Dammit. Still wish Poldi would go to Juve. Tevez, Podolski, Vucinic, Giovinco, and Llorente? Now that's a hell of a strike force.

Schalke desperately need a wingman after Michel Bastos left. Poldi would get quite some playing time there, which would be beneficial for him for the preparation for the World Cup.

My understanding is that Lamela can play both wings. IMO this is the line up as of now:

---Chadli-----Soldado----Lamela---

Due to Lamela being left footed and well, being a badass, I'm guessing he'll be more of the "Bale replacement" on the left cutting inside (as AVB likes his wingers to do, especially with Walker going up the right flank to provide width). Chadli has played on the left only, and also cuts in onto his stronger right foot.

I'm not sure if Spurs will go after another target or not, but I'm assuming the target will probably be more like Willian- AKA, more of a creative player, not so much a goalscorer. Lamela and Soldado will take most of that responsibility up front.
