Inter are looking to use Ricardo Alvarez in a deal to sign Porto midfielder Fernando, according to the Portuguese media.

A central midfielder is on the top of new coach Walter Mazzarri’s list and along with the likes of Radja Nainggolan, Fernando is also a target for the Nerazzurri.

The Portuguese sports paper O Jogo are reporting that Inter may look to use the attacking midfielder to persuade the Dragões to part with the Brazilian.

Fernando has a contract with Porto until 2014 but is supposedly not willing to renew his contract, meaning the Portuguese champions may be forced to sell him.

was such a bright talent, yet looked sooooo clumsy at ajax. ajax originally bought sulejmani for 16.2m, never locked down a starting spot and now leaves for free.

i really hope benfica can revitalize his career, hes a player i really thought had the potential to be a big name. hes still young so its yet to be seen.

Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco are locked in the battle for Lazio star Hernanes, reports Italian newspaper Il Tempo.

The Brazilian has enjoyed another very successful season in Serie A and it looks as though the Biancocelesti won’t be able to keep hold of him for much longer.

Lazio officials are doing everything they can to ward of interest for the experienced midfielder, but president Claudio Lotito has hinted they would not be able to resist a big money offer.

Encouraged by the chairman’s statements, Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be readying a bid in the region of €25 million.

The Saints could, however, face a stiff competition for the player’s signature seeing that Juventus and Monaco are also keen.

Spanish programme Cadena Cope has learned that Atletico Madrid are considering a summer bid for Malaga stopper Martin Demichelis.

With Cata Diaz looking to leave the club, los Colchoneros are hoping to sign another experienced centre-back and Demichelis certainly fits the bill.

The Argentine is set to leave Malaga when his contract expires at the end of the month, although he is believed to be keen on a return to River Plate.

AS Roma have moved to the front of the queue for Cagliari star Radja Nainggolan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian international is likely to be one of the hottest commodities in the summer transfer market, with a number of Italy’s top clubs believed to be keen.

While Juventus and Inter Milan have already shown interest, Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Roma are winning the race for the player’s signature.

Ambrosini negotiating with West Ham.

His agent Moreno Roggi told Calcio Mercato: "Massimo wants to [leave Milan]. There are some negotiations going on and we are evaluating all offers.

"His priority is a foreign club, but should an offer come from an Italian club, we will not ignore it.

"Currently we are negotiating with West Ham, while we have ruled out a move to Major League Soccer."

Portuguese daily newspaper The Record claims Manchester United have a gentlemen's agreement to buy long-term target Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay. Reports back in March claimed the fee would be in the region of £17million.

Galatasaray have failed in a bid for Nani because Manchester United want £8.5million for the winger, according to the Turkish club.

The Portugal international has never really fulfilled his potential at Old Trafford and new boss David Moyes is thought to be ready to sell this summer.

Galatasaray are among the clubs who are interested in signing Nani, who has just one year left on his contract, but claim they cannot meet United's valuation.

The Turkish club's chairman, Unal Aysal, said: "We offered €7million (£6m) for him. But they didn't accept. We can't give more than this.

"We are not going to follow Nani anymore. We can't give more than €7m for him.

"They want €10million (£8.5million). Because of this he is not on our transfer list anymore."

Roma have concluded a deal for Udinese’s Moroccan defender Mehdi Benatia.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the Giallorossi will pay Udinese a fee of €7 million and in addition they will have a choice of two Roma players from Alessio Romagnoli, Nico Lopez, Federico Viviani and Valerio Verre.

Liverpool defender Dan Agger is on the radar of Barcelona.

Sport says Barca are in the market for a new centre-half and have Agger high on their shortlist of candidates.

The Dane recently signed new terms with Liverpool to 2016.

It's suggested Barca could prise Agger away from Anfield for a price of €15 million.

Arsenal and Juventus both hope to sign Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid this summer, but the two clubs will have to wait.

Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Real Madrid will only consider selling the Argentina international if they have first signed his replacement – Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.

Suarez’s family are based in the south of Spain, and that proximity to his relatives and the fact that he would be able to converse in his native language of Spanish are key factors in his keenness to move to Estadio Bernabeu.

Gazzetta claim that Juventus have already come to terms on a deal with Real Madrid officials, whilst Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has met Higuain and his agent father in the last week.

Papiss Cisse is set to discuss his concerns about wearing the Newcastle shirt sponsored by a loans firm when he returns from duty with Senegal.

Joaquin Sanchez is reportedly flying out to Italy today to finalise a move from Malaga to Fiorentina.

The winger is seen as one of a number of high profile stars at La Rosaleda likely to leave this summer amid the club’s reported ambition to change tact in the transfer market.

Malaga Hoy report that the 31-year-old is on the verge of agreeing a move to Serie A and to Fiorentina and will travel to Tuscany today.

The player is seen as due to undergo a medical with La Viola before signing off on a contract believed to be three years in length.

Malaga will reportedly receive a total of between €2m and €2.5m depending on variables relating to performance of the club and player.

A deal could be reached and announced within the next 24 hours.

Hamburg’s activities for the summer could at last see players coming inwards, with sporting director Oliver Kreuzer hinting at a strong interest in free agent Roque Santa Cruz.

He told Bild: "Santa Cruz is an interesting player. If such a man is on the market, you should take care of it."

Paper Round: Monaco plan world record Ronaldo bid
Monaco have already made some big splashes in the transfer market this summer but a monster move for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo could top the lot.

Radamel Falcao, from Atletico Madrid, and Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho have already been signed by the Ligue 1 side for a combined £110m and, according to the Independent, the mega-rich principality have now begun a flirtation with Portuguese superstar Ronaldo.

The figures the paper quotes are simply staggering – they say Monaco would be willing to pay a world record transfer fee of £85m for Ronaldo and offer him a mind-boggling wage of €20m-a-year (£17m) which is made all the more attractive for the player due to Monaco's tax haven status.

Ronaldo has been with Real Madrid for four seasons after his £80m move from Manchester United and has scored 199 goals in just 201 games at the Bernabeu. Unsurprisingly Real are hoping to tie him to a new deal, but Ronaldo's people are believed to have been talking to Monaco for the last 18 months and the club, financed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, feel the forward is somewhat unsettled in the Spanish capital.

The Independent reports: "Ronaldo feels underappreciated at Madrid and believes he is due a pay rise. He is especially keen to earn more than his great rival Lionel Messi at Barcelona. In February of this year, Messi signed a new contract with Barcelona that will last until 2018, heavily incentivised but with a basic salary starting at €12m per year."

Manchester United are also known to be keen on Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford and have also been talking with his people.

From a footballing perspective you sense that would be a move Ronaldo would prefer but it is hard to image they could come close to matching the figures being floated around in connection with Monaco.

Another Portuguese who could be lured by Ligue 1 riches is Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas who is on Paris Saint-Germain's radar according to numerous papers.

The Times reports that: "It is thought the Portuguese would consider a move to one of the world’s richest clubs, but any such deal would have to overcome a number of obstacles before becoming reality.

"Not only did Villas-Boas insist at the end of last season that his priority was to enjoy a second campaign at a club for the first time in his career, but Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, would be likely to demand a substantial figure in compensation."

According to the Daily Mirror, PSG would try and tempt AVB with a huge salary of £10m-a-year and offer another £10m to Spurs as compensation.

To some other rumours and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is considering a £6m bid for England international Darren Bent, who has been told he can leave Aston Villa. Fulham are also interested. (Daily Telegraph)

West Ham are hopeful of concluding a deal for former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini. The 36-year-old held talks last month but continued to weigh up other options while the final few days of his contract ran down at the San Siro. (Daily Mail)

Michael Laudrup’s future as Swansea City manager is still unresolved but the Dane has given chairman Huw Jenkins another list of attacking transfer targets, which include Peter Odemwingie, the controversial West Bromwich Albion striker. (The Times)

Norwich boss Chris Hughton is closing in on PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen. The £4.7million-rated Sweden international is set to form a new-look strike force at the Canaries, alongside already-signed Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon. (Daily Mirror)
