No it doesn't. Or the likes of Hyypia, Agger etc will all be crap.

Pace is only useful to make up for a lapse of concentration / mistake and well, on fifa.

I never said pace is everything, A pacy defender will always have an edge over others defenders and strikers.

Like you said Pacy defenders can always make up for lapse of concentration while the slow ones cant..it is given that every CB makes mistakes so pacy defenders have a edge over the slow ones.

Luiz was still very poor tactically at the end of the season and even in confed cup. Silva was basically playing sweeper half the time.

Dante barely played in confed cup and had no chemistry or rhythm. You can't just throw a player in there when he has barely played in over a month and ask him to perform at a top level. On the other hand, Luiz was given a chance to play a lot so that Silva got used to him.

I'll also add that, prior to the France friendly right before the confed cup, Luiz was not performing all that great. Many, many, many people were calling for Dante to start and couldn't understand why Luiz was getting so much patience with his errors.

Luiz was also basically a thug during confed cup... but refs were too scared to sanction him because it was in Brazil.

Not a fan because he's dirty and a very dumb defender. He's Pepe with better ball skills but worse defense lol.

I like this format, but I would put Vertoghen ahead of Kos in terms of defending as Vertoghen is easily the best 1 on 1 defender in the league. So, I would go:

Vertoghen
Kos

I wouldn't even put Luiz on the list. He's good with the ball at his feet, but he has a rudimentary understanding of how to properly play CB. So, he's the perfect Barcelona CB as he's not really a defender, because that would involve knowing how to defend.

Are we talking about the same Pepe who got benched by a 19 year old (though the 19 year old is really good) because he was a train wreck in defence? 2013, Luiz has been one of the best CBs in the world, only major defensive lapse he had on Confederations Cup was conceding the penalty that Forlan missed in the semi final. Other than that he was pretty damn good and his performances have justified why he is keeping out Dante in the starting line up. Luiz is not a bad defender, he has improved a lot.

There's no point in arguing with these haters, people still just look at him as mistake prone and average because they don't watch him and just judge him based off media/past. We could win the CL on the back of Luiz and people would still just call him a scrub.

Completely false. He did not have one brilliant game, he was excellent the entire tournament. And he was not played DM because he sucked at CB, it was because Benitez was experimenting. He was Chelsea's best defender last season.

I watched all Luiz games in the confederations and he was far from great, especially vs. Uruguay.
