Koscielny vs Vertonghen vs Luiz

Vertonghen and Luiz are better than Koscielny. Can't decide between the first 2.

Luiz IMO but no one else will agree because they are stuck in 2011.

In terms of defending:

Kos first.
Then Vertonghen.
Then Luiz.

In terms of attacking/ball playing out of defence:

Luiz.
Vertonghen.
Kos.

Overall:

Vertonghen.
Kos.
Luiz.

Kos definitely.

ps Vertonghen shined more because of AVB brilliant organizational skills.

Koscielnys the best defender of the three I feel, Luiz second and Vert third.

Distribution Vertonghen is the best, Luiz second and Kosc distant third.

Overall Kosc is probably the best defender, Luiz right behind him and Vert distant third

Can I cop out and say it depends on what style your team plays? I really want to do that lol

Luiz I think is the most talented of all of them, both defensively and offensively.

However, his decision making, choosing what to do and when to do it is the only thing I think drags him down to closer to these two's level. Not that level is low at all, I think both are really really good defenders.

So, you put Luiz in a team with noone to control him...I dont know I want him over Koscienly.

Vert is to me the best of the 3 with the ball, Luiz perhaps plays the long ball as well or maybe even better..but Vertoghen chooses better passes and doesnt dribble when he doesnt have to..Luiz does. I also think he can feasable play another position, neither of the two can imo. I know Luiz has been used in midfield and before that leftback..didnt like him in either role at all, Vert can actualy play leftback fairly well.

I think Luiz and Koscienly trump him in 1 v 1 defending though.

Aerially im not sure, this is where I might allow stats to sway me...but to be fair, Kos plays with Merte, so I imagine he challanges headers much less often which corrupts those stats almost completely.

So there is so much going on here and they provide different things so, I really want to use that cop out excuse.

Luiz has the tactical awareness of gervinho.... namely, he has no idea what he's doing out there most of the time.  Silva will make almost any CB look great.  Heck, he's making Alex look reallllly good and we all know Alex is average. Confed Cup is misleading to me as a result. I go by what i saw at Chelsea.

Kos, on the other hand, is very good tactically to go with everything else.  He's a rhythm defender and he's got it going now.  

If Luiz got his tactical side straight, he would be a top  top cb.  But he's far away from that.

Funny how Brazil were worse defensively when Dante played instead of Luiz.

Watch Luiz in Chelsea - UTD  from 11/12 which ended 3-3. He was terrible. His positioning and poor defense abilities gave United the possibility to create chances and score through Hernandez with a header. What if I would come with a video of that game? But I won't.

The exact problem.....

People are living in the past and remembering the joke he was and refusing to accept the player he is today and the improvements he has made.

That Luiz compared to today is like night and day......

I can name many high profile PL CBs including who made more mistakes and errors last season than Luiz.

Including Vertonghen, even Koscielny was making regular errors from August to Christmas.

Ok, I agree that he improved a lot but I would still be uncomfortable with him at times.

I was trying to show that he isn't that good as some people say. Compared to Koscielny and Vertonghen, he is better and I must be honest with you, I didn't pay attention to the thread's title and subject.

Vertonghen not good enough to be compared to those two.

The guy cost Spurs the Europa League and many games in the league with his poor positional sense and erratic defending.

I still don't know why he's so highly rated, I guess scoring more goals than the other CB's makes people forget for his defending like Vermaelen a few years ago

Agreed.
Kos is faster and less injury prone than Agger that puts just a step ahead of him. But that's about it.

Pace has nothing to do with it. Kos is the superior defender.

Pace has a lot to do with defending.

No it doesn't. Or the likes of Hyypia, Agger etc will all be crap.

Pace is only useful to make up for a lapse of concentration / mistake and well, on fifa.
