Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
Sounds like Arsenal's situation right now.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Kudos to Roma for 4/4 and finally beating Lazio but I feel that their league standing might give some false hope. They had one of the easiest first games of the league, and with Sampdoria and Bologna next it looks to continue. That being said this points to a huge change in mentality, since Roma's problem has historically been losing games they should win.
Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
Well done to Roma, it'd be nice to see them compete for a CL spot
But yeah some teams have had piss easy fixtures, and Juventus have had by far the hardest first few games out of all the big teams
Lazio, Inter and Sampdoria (Normally perform against us in recent times)
Napoli and Roma on the other hand have been playing some very low-standing teams. Although Napoli did play Milan. That being said it was a Milan team with at least half the starters out injured.

Inter: contact with Pierpaolo Marino to replace Branca
for those who dont know Marino, he was the technical director at Udinese and Napoli

Pretty harsh on Balo, especially since it was after the game.

Forza come on now how is it not deserved? He verbally attacked the ref after the game there is no excuse for that no matter how bad the ref was
Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
Normally i'd say it was undeserved. But like anything you get a reputation.
So doing something *bleep* stupid for the 50th time in your career and getting suspended because of it is understandable.
How can he not learn? How? Does he have a learning disability?
Who knew that lashing out due to poor anger management could end up getting you in trouble and having a negative effect on your team?

This is more like it. Why give such a long ban for something so insignificant? He didn't injure anyone, he didn't physically attack anyone. He had some strong words with the ref after the game. It was a stupid thing to do - a borderline card-able offence, but now he is going to get 3 weeks for it! Where do they get that 3 weeks from? Where is the rule that says dissent = 3 weeks on the sidelines? I'd like to see that.inter1lachen wrote:Pretty harsh on Balo, especially since it was after the game.
If he had done it during the game, he would've had only a yellow card!

Abusing the ref is a no-go regardless.Anyways he's built this upon himself. If he doesnt act like the douchebag when he is on the field, maybe things would've been better for his sake.Even Allegri cant defend his idious actions and rightfully so.
And its not like this isnt going to be appealed.I'm sure the ban would be reduced just so he can be back for the Juve game.
Also i've seen many cases where players have been sent off during the game for dissent.Sniejder for example who got sent off for a sarcastic clap at the ref's decision or Mascherano's red card with Pool years ago by persisting on questioning the ref's decision ,just to name a few.

It's 3 weeks but I'm sure Milan will appeal it down to 1 or 2.

It's not Balo's actions that I am defending. He did a very stupid thing. I am arguing about the punishment, which is so excessive it is unprecedented. Please, someone find me another occasion when a player has been given a 3 match ban for verbal abuse (not physical abuse) of the ref.S wrote:Abusing the ref is a no-go regardless.Anyways he's built this upon himself. If he doesnt act like the douchebag when he is on the field, maybe things would've been better for his sake.Even Allegri cant defend his idious actions and rightfully so.

So are we going to sit and differentiate physical and verbal abuse now ? It seems he even threatened the ref ,which is a step too far and a really pathetic thing to do.
His reputation is what has done the damage here, not the actual action and he has to blame himself for that because its not the first time we're seeing this sort of incident.

1. Yes, it is very important to differentiate between physical and verbal abuse. The law differentiates between physical and verbal abuse too. I would rather be called an idiot than punched in the face, what about you?S wrote:So are we going to sit and differentiate physical and verbal abuse now ? 2. Why is it important to take his reputation into account? He is not a criminal. This is an incident where he did the wrong thing and should be punished for that incident, and that incident only. There is no rule in Serie A to my knowledge that says repeat offenders get longer punishments.

Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
If this is unjust, then i dont know what to say.And yes ,reputation sometimes decide these type of decisions.Whats the point in getting away with smaller punishments when you know we could at some point come across a similar incident in the future ? This ban could also be seen as a lesson for Balotelli to adjust his behavior coz you cant carry on with this petulant attitude as a professional footballer."The ban was given for misconduct against an opponent and protests against the match officials as well as addressing the referee with insulting and intimidating expressions," the judge in charge explained the decision."
Also he is not doing this to any random player, its the referee we're talking about and such actions warrant immediate bans and you shall also stop whining about the ban because it seems like it would get reduced.

If Portanova (last season) can scream at our bench threatening our players with their lives and not even receive a card, surely there is something against Balotelli. Chiellini can completely maul people in front of an official and not even draw a foul. I'm disgusted.

Really? We had 3 players + Conte banned last year because of the same reason (not to mention there was a deliberate handball there).. So yea just give him the 3 matches.Forza wrote:LOL. Yeah, it's "deserved" when it suits Juve. You are so biased it's unbelievable.S wrote:Deserved suspension.

Milan would have been better of without him.Such a disruptive presence...I was actually happy when we sold him.
Doesn't learn from his mistakes,obviously.

the article you linked wrote:Sporting judge Gianpaolo Tosel has since decided to ban Conte and Bonucci for two games and hand them 10,000 euro fines apiece, stating that their punishment was for "intimidating the referee and an additional official, insulting them and then reiterating the comments in the dressing room after the game."
Injured defender Giorgio Chiellini ran from the stands to confront the officials and as a result will now be banned for one game, while Vucinic has been handed an identical sanction for protesting despite numerous warnings.
Marotta, meanwhile, has been suspended from duty until Feb. 18, while the club will also have to pay 50,000 euros, in addition to the individual fines dished out.

Re: Italian Serie A/Serie B 2013-14 Discussion
Milan are not appealing Balo's ban according to Goal.com
Statement on the Italian site reads: AC Milan comunica che presenterà ricorso avverso la chiusura della Curva e non coltiverà il ricorso avverso la squalifica di Mario Balotelli.
BUT
Statement on Milan's english site reads: MILAN - Milan announces that it will present a complaint against the suspensions of Mario Balotelli and the Curva Sud.
Confusing.

I think many of us knew putting Balotelli as the focal point of your attack will come and bite you in the ass later on.
How can you trust someone that has acted like a child all his career? That goes for the NT as well.
