Cavani Vs Higuain

I don't think playing for a lower team and doing well should be a factor in determining whether one striker is better than another. It is possible for lower teams to have a regular goalscorer.

But he wasn't the focal point.

If Higuain was a wide mid at his previous club I wouldn't count his goals/game ratio from that either.

Also, generally when you're surrounded by quality your goalscoring improves. Normally if you take a step up to a better club and produce less goals you're considered to be a let down or a flop.

Higuain I think was a RW at his previous club.

But yeh anyway I don't think performing for a lower club means a player is better than someone who performs for a top club.

Again there's a lot factors for that as well. Like maybe the player who's playing for the smaller club has less pressure, therefore he's doing well.

Well the best comparison up until this point in their respective careers would be to look at their statistics for RM and Napoli. Where both play as a lone striker.

I agree some players thrive off of being a big fish in a small pond but like I said generally if a striker moves up to a better club they up their performances. And if not, they've flopped.

Cavani is 100x the player Higuin is. He's faster, plays just as hard if not harder, better finisher, better in the air, carried a team on his shoulders, plays big on big occasions.

I don't even understand this comparison.

Once higuain carries a team on his shoulders and scores 35+ goals doing it while facing defenses designed to stop him can a comparison even be made.

Going by that logic, Higuain plays second fiddle to Ronaldo at Madrid.

Anywho, Madrid fanboys overrate Higuain and Serie A fanboys overrate Cavani. I don't have any doubts about that.

I don't overrate Cavani... i've seen him dominate as a CF... and then play right wing for Uruguay where he's tracking people back all the way back to his own box and making tackles.  Does he have faults?  Sure.  He's no Ibra technically.  But he's in incredible shape (a physical specimen), very fast, good finisher, is a bull and plays his heart out... while scoring 30+ goals for 3 straight seasons as the lead guy on his team.

To me, he's one of the true elite strikers.  Not in the class of Messi, CR7 and Ibra... but definitely in the class of Falcao and RVP.

Serie A attack's talent is thinly spread out within the league rather than clustered up top. The attackers are literally designed to unlock more astute defences which gives it a tactical edge.

Cavani & Higuain? Both excellent CFs.

Yet stats cannot prove the difference unless drastic disparities in numbers are assorted.

Clear difference in play is with Cavani. I've never seen Higuain absolutely SMASH top teams with HATRICKS like Cavani does. He doesn't alert the back-lines, he SCARES the living daylights out of them with his hard charging style.

Higuain occupies one defender, Cavani occupies THE WHOLE *bleep* BACKLINE.

Higuain nonetheless is a class CF as comparisons between them is only harsh on Higgy himself.

Cavani is an elite CF, Higgy is not (yet).

Season 2008-09 Higuain carries Madrid to 2nd place by himself. They are not top teams but he has proven he can carry any team if they play to his strengths.

Getafe? Since when were they ever in their paltry history a top team? Malaga can be considered top yet thoroughly lost their edge at the end of the season.

My point wasn't to address how Higgy cannot score v top teams. Yet I never see him scare top defences/teams like Cavani does nor in the fashion of his play. Cavani scores his goals out of nothing, Higuain, for the most part capitalizes on chances.

There's only one top team Higuain could score a hattrick against in La Liga, Barca.

Serie A had/have 3 top teams. Cavani scored one vs Inter recently, however they aren't really considered a top team currently though. He's scored one vs AC Milan and Juventus, both are top teams.

My views might be clouded by the confed cup or the fact i like higuain's style better.. but I just don't rate cavani as high as you guys. And i cant agree about "carrying" the team.

Lol at Pipishite being compared to GOATvani. Cavani is world class, Higuain is just a decent striker. We need to see him given a full blown season to judge. Plus Pipishite is a cl abomination.
