This is the 2nd time you reply with the same comment :-) He'll probably stay at Liverpool, but its just an idea. If Liverpool are really interested in Mascherano, Barcelona can include him in a deal that brings Agger to the Camp Nou!

But Liverpool wouldn't accept such an offer, so it doesn't matter.

Also, neither of your examples had been promoted to that status in the very same window where they'd left.

Oh ffs this is incredible....thats a fantastic offer for a 29 year old without a position he is good at.

Clubs think its impossible to replace these guys, but I dont think it is at all.

First of all, when that star player goes, inevitably some of the others who remain step up and take the chance. They were waiting for the chance to be a big star in their own right.

Also, with the money you might be able to strengthen the squad in weaker areas.

If a player signs a contract they are expected to honour it, of course there's things like clauses which might see them leave, external factors that mean selling is the best option too.

A persons word means absolutely nothing though and promising something only to deny it probably happens a lot, which is why players and managers get quite frustrated at the idea of "loyalty".

Ultimately, I think once a player unsettles themselves with demands to leave its probably best to let them go. Taking a stern approach to want aways, whilst admirable, is usually just a recipe for disaster.

I mean for Barcelona btw, not everywhere. I am sure for someone else he could do a good job.

But he obviously isnt a good centerback for us and he was even worse (not surprisingly) in midfield.

Mascherano as been a useful utility player, I don't get the hate. He's been drafted into defence when he's not a defender and expected to perform at a world class level.

Who hates him? He just isnt good enough in any position.

Its not his fault he isnt a centerback...but that doesnt make him any good.

And how can you call him a utility player if he can and does only play 1 position for us?

you two are both so vague with your responses I agree he probably wont come considering the season starts in almost a week, but if your only reasoning is "he just got promoted to vice-captain" then please either explain more or kindly be quiet, instead of saying baiting "you don't know what you're talking about"

I offered multiple reasons as well as exactly issues with your comparison to the Arsenal stars. There's nothing terribly vague about it.

What blows my mind is that he was REALLY good that first season he was with us. After he won the UCL he kinda dipped. And when he dipped he dipped by allot.

may be he dipped or may be the problem was exposed more on later times. but in the end, he is never a reliable CB right??? sooner or later we were supposed to suffer for playing him out of position.

I think the issue was that he did so well there at first serving as Puyols back up that the board felt fine using him last season as the CB in case of emergency but he fell off hard. Maybe it's cause Abidal was bailing him out before

Actually now that I think about it, him surrounded by Abidal and Pique + we were pressing like rabid wolves is exactly why his efforts looked glorious.

Any thoughts on using him there. we tried it before and it ruined both our mid and defense play.No one can cut the attacks any better than him. And even if we play roberto regularly he is far from being a DM. And JDS is too small and inexperienced for me for that role.

Thing is, if whoever takes on the DM role of Buscuit would no mater what be a downgrade.
he is king at that role and I can't name someone currently who could surpass him there, his role is underrated but very important in our formation.

One thing is certain.He would do better than Masch there.
But he is too slow to play CB.If he had even an ounce of acceleration and a bit more pace,I would have no problem with him playing CB.

These comments make good sense to me but clubs usually try a bit too hard to hold on to such players. If the player leaves at the end they are left with very little time to adjust. If he stays he is sometimes not at his best. Even then at times clubs have managed to extract value from a want away player in his last season.
