I think Liverpool should go for the more established younger players. Like Eriksen, instead of Luis Alberto, Borini, Atsu etc etc.

hard to convince when you don't have CL...especially when bigger clubs offering higher wages and CL are interested

Real Madrid do, however the situation's different. Casillas was injured and Mourinho was feuding with him and we needed short term replacement etc etc.
Casillas will hopefully be back to starting next season and Lopez is too good to be a backup.

While this all true its Real Madrid ffs.... and they are one club that does it i can't think of any others.
Besides Liverpool are not even close to the same level to require two quality GKs.
Not to say they shouldn't do it but it is incredibly rare for a club to have two quality GKs.

it's got nothing to do with "feeder clubs", the key point is that spanish clubs can't offer professional contracts until the player is 18 so the english pirates can throw money at any teenager they want... compare the number of spanish players aged 15-18 that leave for england to 18-20

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Corinthians have confirmed that negotiations are gathering pace with Tottenham regarding the transfer of Paulinho.
The Brazil international, who is currently impressing in the Confederations Cup, has long been linked with a move to Europe with Tottenham among the clubs interested.
Spurs were yet to have firmed up their interest as recently as last week, but reports now suggest that a £17million bid for the midfielder has been accepted.
Corinthians director of football Edu - a former Arsenal player - has confirmed that there have been further developments and a move to London now looks likely.
When asked about the interest from the White Hart Lane club, Edu told UOL: "The situation is well underway.
"We have to agree on some details of the negotiation, so I can't say he will leave yet, but the negotiations are good."

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Don't really understand why there's talk of Isco not starting at Real Madrid and how he'd be competing with Ozil/Kaka/Modric.
Kaka's most likely leaving and Modric is a CM. Di Maria hasn't been good enough and could be sold. Right now Isco would start.

Its all over spanish media.
Isco is Real Madrid's.
Let me add that Cadena Ser and As are among the most reputable papers, and its rare that Cadena Ser, As, and Interconomia decide to share the belief and plaster it as the main story.
Its a special case.

Yep contract was all agreed, all that was missing was his signature.... Kinnear comes in and decides he doesn't want him and cancels the deal.

The 25-year-old will now not be moving to St James' Park and Sky Sports understands that the decision was made by Kinnear.
It is understood Kinnear has already identified other defensive targets for the club to move for this summer.

Meanwhile Douglas, the FC Twente defender is reported to be heartbroken by the late collapse of his long mooted move to Newcastle, which was due to be finalised this week but instead ended up being vetoed by Kinnear at the 11th hour.

Kinnear has already flexed his muscles at the club by knocking back the desire of chief scout Graham Carr to sign the Brazilian centre-half Douglas on a free transfer.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Abidal to Monaco? His agent:

Juventus have managed to agree personal terms with Napoli’s Juan Camilo Zuniga over a possible future transfer.
Doubts about the 28-year-old Colombian’s future with the Partenopei continue with the revelation that Zuniga has indicated that he would accept Juventus’ offer of a contract.
According to reports in Tuttosport and Goal.com, the player’s flirting with the Old Lady has secured the wing-back a concrete offer from the Turin giants, who are offering him a four-year contract worth €2.5 million per year.
Inter are also believed to be interested in securing the player’s signature although the news that a contract has been agreed in principle with Juventus puts the reigning Serie A champions in pole position to capture the Colombian should he decide not to renew his contract at Napoli.
The San Paolo based outfit are known to be reluctant to sell Zuniga to their northern rivals although recent developments have ignited speculation that Napoli will be forced to sell the player.
Tuttomercatoweb.com has claimed that the Serie A runners-up would rather cut their losses and sell the player to the Bianconeri during the 2013 summer transfer window as the former Siena man will be entitled to leave on a free transfer in 2014.
Ventidelli told Fichajes: "[Monaco, Lyon and Montpellier] are interested in Abidal. There's interest from other leagues too, but Eric's preference is to return to France for family reasons. Monaco are his number one choice.
"[The Monaco offer] is a relatively short contract because Eric is 33 years old. Despite the health problems he's had, he is in good shape. The contract duration will be short but there could be options afforded to the player once we've completed negotiations.
"Negotiations with Monaco will be settled one way or another by next week as Eric has other proposals. We must be respectful to other clubs."
Abidal made his name as a world class defender at Lyon before moving to Camp Nou in 2007 and his agent accepted that a return to the Stade de Gerland
"Of course, because Eric Abidal is Lyon," he added. "His international career started through playing at Lyon.
"He has a great relationship with the club. There are talks with Lyon and his relationship with the club means there's a chance, but we're concentrating on Monaco at the moment as it's his first choice."
Ventidelli also dropped a major hint that incoming Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola was eyeing a move from Abidal but that the France international would prefer to play football back in his homeland.
"There are some clubs in Germany [that want to sign him]," he teased. "There's a close friend and coach who knows Eric well but, again, his preference is to return to France."

Alternatively, since Danny Wilson's move to Hearts has collapsed with their slide into administration, he's available on a free.
