sportsczy wrote:Actually no... Carlo plays all his schemes with a superactive DM (Gattuso, Essien, Ramires, Matuidi). All these players have been critical to make things work for him. We don't have that at Madrid.
Khedira cannot play this role because he doesn't have the athleticism to cover that much ground. We need to replace him first for Carlo. Alonso's replacement... that's another story. I don't think that's a rush because we also have Modric. We can wait a year when Gundogan becomes available.
Having a great athletic DM also allows you to play Modric with him without worrying.
Did those teams consist of a front line who hardly if ever help out in defence?? and is he used to teams parking the bus?? the answer is most possibly no. We need both the DM/DLP and CM to be able to create and switch flanks in an instance. Modric seems like the perfect CM for us, defends a little bit and gets out of trouble with great passing. definitely an upgrade to Khedira. And the only one close to what Alonso does for us is Illaramendi and possibly Veratti. I like the former because I have watched him more and know how he plays

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Carlo had frontlines of Kaka and Inzaghi that never defended for Milan. Drogba and Anelka did nothing at Chelsea either. At PSG, Ibra, Verratti, Pastore and Menez absolutely suck at defending.
Considering we will have questionable defenders at both fullback spots (Carvajal and Marcelo), CR7, Ozil and the CF... It's absolutely critical we get a very good athletic DM. Our CBs cannot cover for all the potential problems without great midfield cover.
It's not even a preference imo. We need a great midfield defender.

in any case, Carlo has consistently shown that he prefers 3 man midfield in his career. It's more likely that we try a variation of the 3 man midfield, 4321 or 41212, specially given that we have two offensive fullbacks in marcelo and carvajal.

Bottom part of the article.
Lucas Digne has apparently agree to terms with PSG on a 5-year deal at €200k per month. Now PSG and Lille need to get the fee agreed to... Lille want €15 mil.

CR7, Benz or other CF and Ozil are going to be there for sure. Whether we sign Bale or Isco... that's your 4th. Even if he plays a 3 man midfield, one of the midfielders (Ozil or Isco) is going to be like Pastore at PSG = almost completely useless on defense.Mr Nick09 wrote:in any case, Carlo has consistently shown that he prefers 3 man midfield in his career. Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Ozil, CR and CF will be the offense. Isco would be part of the midfield in that scheme. think Isco will try a bit harder than Pastore come on, pastore is his own brand of lazy. although he worked his socks off vs Barca... But word around PSG is that the total transfer budget has been set at €60 mil for PSG this summer unless sales are made... the exception being CR7. Would they also make such an exception for Bale? I don't know. There seems to be a lot more focus to lure Rooney. I think Bale only come to play if Rooney is completely off the table. Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Spanish news agency Terra have released quotes from the president of Brazilian side Atlético-MG that should pique the interests of Tottenham fans.
With Spurs linked with Brazil international Bernard, the player’s club president Alexandre Kalil has updated the press on Sunday about the availability of the attacking midfielder.
Kalil told reporters:
We have received an offer of €18m from an ‘English club’ who wants to sign Bernard who is now with Brazil. The offer was deemed too low, therefore refused. FC Porto have now entered negotiations. Their president a good friend.
We told everyone if you pay €25m Bernard is yours. Porto sold Moutinho and James Rodriguez. I believe they have money.
Several days ago Lancenet reported Andre Villas-Boas has personally sent scouts to all of Brazil’s games at the upcoming Confederations Cup to watch Bernard with a view to a summer purchase for Spurs.

On a side note... i think PSG are getting the better deal than Madrid by shipping Carlo here and taking AVB. I rate AVB higher

that's true, would be interesting. Rooney doesnt even seem interested in going to France tho. If he is going to leave Utd, i think he would go to Chelsea or arsenal? lol. well, if Chelsea miss out on Cavani, there isnt much else on the market. Higuain? Gomez? lots of CFs moving around.

Koscielny's agent, Stephane Courbois:
“I know that Laurent is part of a shortlist of three or four players for both clubs,” he told Eurosport with regards to interest from Barca and Bayern
Courbois did however say that no contact has been made from Barca, contrary to what is being reported in Spain.

Tottenham Hotspur are readying a €10m offer to try and tempt Napoli into parting company with Federico Fernandez.
The 24-year-old spent six months of the previous season on loan with Getafe and has never managed to solidify his position with the Vesvuiani during his time there.
Il Mattino suggest that Spurs have been impressed with what they have saw of ‘Flaco’ which may have earned him a move to White Hart Lane.
His agent Gustavo Goni told TMW in the past few days that “for now he will go back to Naples but the experience with Getafe revitalised him.”

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur are among those interested in Fredy Guarin.
The Colombian midfielder is said to be a transfer target for clubs across Europe ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window.
Spurs are reported to have been following the 26-year-old for some time, and could be set to make their move this summer.
Inter would be reluctant to part with a man who has become a regular in their side since completing a permanent switch from Porto in 2012, but concede that interest in his services is building.
Moratti said: "Guarin? He is a really good player and for that reason he is liked by others.
"Tottenham are really interested."
While Spurs are among those plotting a summer raid, ambitious Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala have moved to distance themselves from reports suggesting they are planning an approach.
A statement on the club's official website read: "Regarding the rumours on Fredy Guarin, we deny holding an interest in the player.
"These assumptions are without substance, as they also are about (Roberto) Soldado and (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang.
"The Anzhi name is used to fuel talks and increase a player's value. There aren't any negotiations under way."

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
I don't know why would you rate him higher. He is touted as a long-term coach but that has not been evident as of now. He won the Europa League but who wouldn't with that kind of team? He went undefeated in the league but so did Porto's current manager.. that tells you more about the league than the manager, which is quite obvious. Neither is he a good man manager which is one of Carlo's weak points.sportsczy wrote:On a side note... i think PSG are getting the better deal than Madrid by shipping Carlo here and taking AVB. Carlo is like leagues above AVB as of now. The only thing AVB is good at are his looks and that's it lol.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Sky Sports understands that a host of Premier League clubs have joined the chase for Porto's Ghana international Christian Atsu.
Atsu is entering the final year of his contract at Porto and has previously made it clear that he wants to leave after turning down the chance to sign a new deal.
He has also expressed an interest in moving to the Premier League and Liverpool are understood to be tracking his situation.
It is now thought that a number of other English clubs have identified Atsu as a possible target and may be considering a move for the 21-year-old.

I think this is the next obvious hurdle for AVB to pass, because he has proven he is a world class coaching talent, but after Chelsea he will need to show he can handle the egos that come with a top 5 club.
Personally, I would stick with Spurs because I would want to be a legend that actually built something. However, in our ADD society, I don't think we will see many clubs built like that these days.

Not a bad prospect. He's playing for the youth France NT teams... 6 for the U16 and 3 for the U17. Hasn't been called up since 2012 though; so he's dropped off some. He's a striker.
