Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Football - Ligue 1
Paper Round: Monaco plan world record Ronaldo bid
Monaco have already made some big splashes in the transfer market this summer but a monster move for Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo could top the lot.
Radamel Falcao, from Atletico Madrid, and Porto duo James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho have already been signed by the Ligue 1 side for a combined £110m and, according to the Independent, the mega-rich principality have now begun a flirtation with Portuguese superstar Ronaldo.
The figures the paper quotes are simply staggering – they say Monaco would be willing to pay a world record transfer fee of £85m for Ronaldo and offer him a mind-boggling wage of €20m-a-year (£17m) which is made all the more attractive for the player due to Monaco's tax haven status.
Ronaldo has been with Real Madrid for four seasons after his £80m move from Manchester United and has scored 199 goals in just 201 games at the Bernabeu. Unsurprisingly Real are hoping to tie him to a new deal, but Ronaldo's people are believed to have been talking to Monaco for the last 18 months and the club, financed by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, feel the forward is somewhat unsettled in the Spanish capital.
The Independent reports: "Ronaldo feels underappreciated at Madrid and believes he is due a pay rise. He is especially keen to earn more than his great rival Lionel Messi at Barcelona. In February of this year, Messi signed a new contract with Barcelona that will last until 2018, heavily incentivised but with a basic salary starting at €12m per year."
Manchester United are also known to be keen on Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford and have also been talking with his people.
From a footballing perspective you sense that would be a move Ronaldo would prefer but it is hard to image they could come close to matching the figures being floated around in connection with Monaco.
Another Portuguese who could be lured by Ligue 1 riches is Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas who is on Paris Saint-Germain's radar according to numerous papers.
The Times reports that: "It is thought the Portuguese would consider a move to one of the world’s richest clubs, but any such deal would have to overcome a number of obstacles before becoming reality.
"Not only did Villas-Boas insist at the end of last season that his priority was to enjoy a second campaign at a club for the first time in his career, but Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, would be likely to demand a substantial figure in compensation."
According to the Daily Mirror, PSG would try and tempt AVB with a huge salary of £10m-a-year and offer another £10m to Spurs as compensation.
To some other rumours and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is considering a £6m bid for England international Darren Bent, who has been told he can leave Aston Villa. Fulham are also interested. (Daily Telegraph)
West Ham are hopeful of concluding a deal for former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini. The 36-year-old held talks last month but continued to weigh up other options while the final few days of his contract ran down at the San Siro. (Daily Mail)
Michael Laudrup’s future as Swansea City manager is still unresolved but the Dane has given chairman Huw Jenkins another list of attacking transfer targets, which include Peter Odemwingie, the controversial West Bromwich Albion striker. (The Times)
Norwich boss Chris Hughton is closing in on PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen. The £4.7million-rated Sweden international is set to form a new-look strike force at the Canaries, alongside already-signed Dutch striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Sporting Lisbon. (Daily Mirror)
New Everton boss Roberto Martinez is closing in on his first signing – former Wigan centre-half Antolin Alcaraz who is now out of contract. (Daily Mirror)
And finally, Newcastle United are reviving their interest in FC Twente defender Douglas. The 25-year-old has been a long-term target on Tyneside up to the point where a £4million offer last summer was rejected. Inter Milan have also shown interest. (Daily Mail)

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Inter are reportedly set to renew their interest in young Barcelona defender Martin Montoya.
Montoya, 22, is currently shining at the U21 European Championships in Israel with Spain. The right-back is considered to be one of Spain’s most promising players at the tournament.
Inter have been heavily linked with a move for Montoya in the past. The player’s agent Jose Orobitg told TuttoMercatoWeb.com last month that “right now they are just rumours.”
But now TuttoMercatoWeb.com are reporting that Walter Mazzarri and the Inter hierarchy are prepared to step up their interest in the player once more.
Updates on negotiations between the clubs are expected in the next few days. Montoya is currently valued at around €10.5 million.

thats actually very interesting. so it looks like laudrup's agent was trying to dictate who was brought in by swansea.
screw FFP, uefa and each league's FA need to look at how these agents operate and manipulate clubs and players. its all very seedy.
not sure what this means for laudrup as he just signed a contract but im sure a host of clubs would like his services if this leads to a firing of michael.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Santos president Odilio Rodrigues has admitted the club have opened talks with AC Milan about the possibility of buying Robinho this summer.
Peixe are looking to replace Neymar, who joined Barcelona for €57 million at the start of June and Rodrigues has revealed that the club are looking at the possibility of bringing the former Real Madrid and Manchester City playmaker back to his homeland.
“We look forward to a brief reply [from Milan], later this week. Want to understand whether the purchase [of Robinho] may be feasible or not, but I think so,” Rodrigues told reporters.
“Currently there are ongoing negotiations for anyone, we are testing the market but at the moment there are no announcements to make."
Robinho himself was a little more coy was recently quizzed on his future in Italy.
“Will I return to Santos? Right now it's a question I cannot answer, but it is clear that Santos is my boyhood club and I have many good memories of my time there,” he said.
The 29-year-old was a reported target for Santos back in January but the clubs failed to reach an agreement. His contract at San Siro expires in June 2014.

Re: Summer Transfer Rumours Mk.IV
Sky Sports sources understand that Celtic have rejected Hull City's bid for Gary Hooper.
We revealed early on Wednesday that newly promoted Hull had made a move for Hooper and lodged an offer for the former *bleep* United striker.
However, with the bid believed to be just over £4million, Celtic have reacted quickly by turning down the offer.
Hooper has just one year left on his contract at Celtic Park, and is attracting a great deal of interest from his native England.
Norwich City, who tried to buy him in January, along with, Sunderland, Southampton and Reading are also being linked with the 25-year-old forward.

Juve are probably getting tired of saying he isn't for sale
I still think Kondogbia/Illaramendi are best suited for our brand of football and cheaper as well win=win

Depends how Ancelotti plays. If we get Bale, then unfortunately we'll probably continue with the counter-attacking.

in a position we are desperately need of inforcement. go get him
why are we obsessing over Bale when he isn't needed and would cost a fortune. we can shut down business if we get him(Illaramendi)

35 mil for him. Please. Don't let a U21 tournament cloud your judgement. He's good but not even close to that good.
You could get Pogba and Gundogan for that.

IMHO he is better off at club level at this point of his career, an on-the-rise managerial career can easily drift into oblivion in charge of NT.
Plus I want to see how he does at Swansea in his second year.

he has been good this whole season just not this tournament. many people tend to watch these kind of tournaments as opposed to a saturday afternoon game between LaReal and Osasuna
I have watched Sociedad quite a few times and am very aware of his qualities. Pogba plays as a CM and we are full in that department
Illaramendi is a DLP. how many of those are in the market?? none
he should be our number one priority imo not Isco or Bale or any of those strikers
