Apparently we're chasing PSV's Dutch left-back Erik Pieters, whose contract expires in 2014 and could be available for around £4 million, according to Daily Mail
Shoddy journalism at its heights
Are we supposed to field a back four full of side-backs?

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
there is no reason why Jovetic cant be a goal machine.. no one thought that RIP had it in him to be a prolific out and out striker..Alejandro E.Zackarias wrote:Firstly,Jovetic is younger and definitely more versatile than Higgy and is available for nearly the same money.
Another thing is that we(or at least I) as an Arsenal fan prefer tricky versatile players to take our attacking philosophy to the next level rather than these monotonous goal machines, though that's what Arsenal require tbf.
However I hope we do get El Pipita if we don't sign Jovetic.
it is clear that it is not only finishing we are lacking but also creativity.. so i would go for Jovetic..
and 19 million means.. we have probably bided 19 million for 25 million rated Jovetic.. Wenger and Arsenal board..

I would take up Lyon if they offered 11m for Gervinho. Makes room in our forward lines to grab both Jove and Higgy. Arshavin is retired/gone as well.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio has admitted that he is open to leaving the Portuguese giants this summer as rumours persist over a move to Arsenal.
The Gunners reportedly had a bid of around £8.5m turned down earlier this month by Sporting, who are holding out for a much larger transfer fee.
After playing in Sporting's final game of the season last weekend, the Portuguese international has conceded that his future with the club is far from certain.
Tuttomercatoweb quotes him as saying: "I feel good here, but we must consider many things. I still do not know what the future holds for me."
The 25-year-old has spent his entire professional career at Sporting, making more than 200 first-team appearances.

According to Daily Express,we're in for Manchester City midfielder Abdisalam Ibrahim, who is on loan at Norwegian side Stromsogodset.
The 22-year hailed as the 'next Yaya Toure' is said to quit Manchester City this summer due to lack of first team opportunities.
Further,Fulham have refused to sign Frimpong on a permanent deal as his price tag is said to be 6 million.
Middlesborough and Norwich City are said to be fighting for Arsenal's Josh Rees.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Jovetic rumours heating up, La Stampa reporting it aswell: http://www.lastampa.it/2013/05/21/sport/calcio/qui-juve/juve-missione-higuain-e-per-jovetic-e-l-ultima-chiamata-IKAOxnStJo8d2MbCpAib6M/pagina.html
They say Jovetic's agent is trying to get the best deal from Juve or Arsenal. We surely can't mess this up.

I think its about time we show some ambition and go for major trophies.
Tired of spending 10-12m on 3 players when we can have 1 great players for that kind of money.

These two might make a killer strike partnership in an old school 4-4-2.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Took this from Metro,of course a relatively no nonsense site,a few minutes ago:
Are we really showing intent for once....
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic, with his agent reportedly in London negotiating a £24.5million deal.
The Montenegrin forward has been tracked by the Gunners for well over a year, and now it appears the Viola are finally ready to cash in on their prized asset after narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification.
Jovetic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, is thrashing out terms with Arsenal in London after an offer was lodged, according to Italian media group Mediaset, and will report back to the 23-year-old with the Gunners’ proposal.
Serie A champions Juventus are also keen on the forward, but it’s understood Fiorentina would rather sell to Arsenal rather than risk seeing Jovetic become a star in Turin.
Jovetic himself, has previously welcomed the interest from Arsene Wenger’s side, while Juve recently admitted they were concentrating on a move for either Carlos Tevez or Gonzalo Higuain, making Emirates Stadium the Viola man’s most likely destination this summer.
Are we really showing intent for once....

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
AS Saint Etienne forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has hinted that despite being a big fan of the English Premier League, he could instead favour a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Taken from his interview in WhoScored.com
It's imperative that we sign Jovetic.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Football website Mercato365 ascertains Sanogo will be enticed with an improved two-year contract by Auxerre to snuff out Arsenal's interest.
They also report that Lille are keen to make a late swoop to hijack Arsenal's chances of bringing him to the Emirates.
And silly me for creating a thread about Sanogo.Hope RG has the requisite administrative powers to delete a thread...
