Re: Serie A 2024/2025
I wouldn't even say it's a new gen thing it just seems like a thing in MLS where hard work and hustle will somehow make the difference beyond the threshold it has. Im sure it would bother some that Messi is saying what he does given he does just walk now and of course his teammates won't even hold a candle to his skill to pull that off, but he is right.
I used to be against that thought but Im always in the territory of a deliberate build up over rushed ones relying on physical traits.

And I love the confirmation bias that was bound to come when Fonseca (inevitably) fails saying that "see? Pioli wasnt the problem!"
When he actually was. Ive long documented here that Stefano just has a literal tactical ceiling where he just cant seem to evolve out of whatever he has created and it's been happening his entire career. A change was needed but I never wanted it to be Fonseca either.

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
#JusticeForPioli is a joke but I maintain that Pioli was being eacapegoated at Milan. He does have a ceiling and isn't a top coach, yet his ceiling with Milan was winning the scudetto.
I don't mean this as banter at all, Milan title winning squad was the weakest scudetto team I've ever seen. That was more than anyone could reasonably expect with that team. If Milan wants to take the next step, the path of firing Pioli for Fonseca is not one that fills with confidence. The squad needed improvement more urgently than the coach. And if the coach was to be changed to raise the level of the team it needed to be a a much better appointment.

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
This is an opinion I see on Twitter not criticising what you have ever said just to clear that up.
You have good points but I maintained that a change of cycle was needed as since he did all he could do but it also came down to his own limitations. Thankfully he does evolve as his career goes but I did not see it happening last season where he often failed to adapt to new situations. Our squad is average of course but the departure was good for both parties and I'll always distantly support any team he manages. Solid manager and very classy man.

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
Victor Osimhen has been excluded by Napoli’s Serie A squad list… and also number 9 will NO longer be on his shirt.
Napoli have decided to give number 9 to Romelu Lukaku with immediate effect.
kinda crazy, so its either he joins a Saudi team in the next 48 hrs or sits out a whole season?

That 2-7-2 interview is an indictment of sports media. Thiago said it as read from side to side, not back to front, and the media headlines ran with it to create a story where there was none.

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
I know the story of 2-7-2, he was still a youth coach when he proposed it, I think there was a thread about it here and you guys still hated him back then. It was more like a question in terms of it looking more like Allegri was back against Roma.

It seems like there's lots of toxicity around him but UTD should've bought him instead of Zirkzee, he would be a guarantee of goals

I doubt it. There hasnt been a single player that has shined throughout his 2 years of tenure, excluding Rashords first season with him on charge.

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
More like Napoli has been toxic and tried to extort the saudis a few more millions, which they refused
So now ADL is paying Osimhen to play at Galatasaray, and will eventually receive much less transfer money than expected. Seems like pretty bad business to me

Possibly, which boggles my mind even more as to why they are keeping him for so long.
Flick at Barca completely changed the team after 1 preseason and this guy has done nothing in over 2 years lol
Realistically nothing has changed at Utd since 2013 and Moyes decade of pain for Firenze, can't complain there are no complaints on my behalf

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
It seems like Conte already got going. Napoli scudetto and Lukaku capo coming.
The next match is Juve-Napoli. That's going to tell us a lot about Motta. We've been playing a bit narrow with Yildiz and Cambiaso at left back + Kalulu (or Cabal) on the other side. Against Conte's 343 It would be best to go back to wider players and stretch them out.
Also, with Spinazzola and Mazzochi as wing backs and Di Lorenzo as RCB is funny how quickly Napoli's buil-for-4-2-3-1 team converted into a back 3 team. Conte doesn't waste any time. Buongiorno is a fantastic signing too.
Basically this same situation

I honestly haven't been following Roma much on the men's side, but what happened to DDR is astonishing.
Gonna wait for more details, but wow.
Ivan Juric is the new coach.

Yea De Rossi fired only after 4 games, so much for the promising run last season?

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
this is why Roma deserves where they are and to be perennial losers. DDR showed more than enough promise last season to know he must be given time, the locker room loved him and his leadership is massive.
imagine sacking a monumental club legend who just started off poorly for the Serie A Tony Mobray
Yea Roma definitely going somewhere with him

Re: Serie A 2024/2025
So that's both Totti and DDR ostracized by Roma management. Oof.
Still not sure what actually precipitated his firing other than he didn't get along with the new CEO. Did read that there were disagreements around how much he wanted to use Dybala this season, but there's not much else said about that.

Atalanta beaten at home by Como 2-3... featuring Sergi Roberto... how tf Atalanta seemingly able to be so good in European cups but so inconsistent in the league?

Couldn't watch the entire game but they looked very tired in the second half, that squad is gassed.
Hopefully they can get some rest snd hit form. Lautaro 1 goal in 15 games I think.
