Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
It'll be exciting if we do sign Henri Ryan, but that'll be so many attacking players signed & in the squad.
Also, shouldn't we sign a defender? After Papa there's been very little anything on that front.

Gone are those days
That was in 1977. Turnovers were peanuts compared to today. 440k was a big money signing back then. Couldn't help mentioning.

Mkhitaryan is a great signing! He has pace, technique and finishing, seen him a couple of times in UCL, Ukrainian league highlights and vs italy in qualifiers and he was impressive.. Him, Willian and Fernandinho were Mircea Lucescu's jewels..

He hasn't signed.
There's three rumours going around.
1) He's "signed" for us and we've struck a deal.
2) He's going to Dortmund.
3) Spurs are now interested as well.
No one knows anything.

We are being linked with Verona's 21 year old CM Jorginho.

i found a video of him, i just came to know about him in last window, when he was linked with some big clubs. Do we really need him now:scratch:

With how much Shakhtar values him, Spurs might be "interested", but nothing is going to happen.

No need for Jorginho. Henderson and Allen are fine at that spot.

More rumors on this Biteco kid. Supposedly a DM and/or a Box-to-box midfielder. He's built like a tank

How so? He'd play for the reserves for majority of the season at 17. He'd be a youth signing. And Jonjo isn't a defensive midfielder...

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
I have been meaning to ask these:
1. Who would be your/our REALISTIC choice if we fail to sign Papa or Alde!
2. Who would be your/our REALISTIC choice if we fail to sign Henrikh or Erik!
3. Who would be your/our REALISTIC choice if Suarez leaves!

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
From what I've herd and read, he's similar in style to Mascherano in positioning and the way he attacks the ball. Could be a great signing for us. Unfortunately, I haven't personally seen him at all. So, I can neither back nor criticize the comparison. Obviously, at 18 (his birthday is 6/28), he won't feature prominently for the first team. However, if he's as good as rumored, I could see him spelling Lucas for some early cup rounds, and possibly providing league cover later in the season.ynwa wrote:Nishank wrote:McAgger wrote:

- Matheu Biteco Media:
The true enigma for me is the Jorginho rumor. While he’s a player that would seem to fit our transfer modus operandi, I can’t quite ascertain how he fits into the squad. Much like Brazilian football, I don’t get the opportunity to watch much Serie B. So, I don’t know much about the player from first-hand impressions. What I have read is that he is a CM, capable of playing both DM and AM (to an extent). In this respect, I would guess that he, more than Biteco, could be a replacement for Shelvey. However, the DM shout intrigues me. As Jorginho is 21, he would not be likely to be a “youth signing”. If the rumors are true, it would seem he is being targeted as CM/DM cover.
What is disappointing about the Jorginho rumors is that he’s not really a pure DM. Unlike the (questionable) Wanyama rumors and the Biteco interest, this doesn’t appear to be a signing based on the need to find cover at the DM spot. He seems to be another Allen (i.e. a multi-tool player that can cover multiple positions, but may not be a first choice in all of them). To be honest, I have a hard time believing this rumor from a tactical standpoint. I just don’t see how he fits. That said, he’s not exactly a high-profile name, making it hard to see the incentive behind falsely linking him. As I said, it’s a bit of a conundrum.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
in case if we fail to sign Mkhi, does anyone think we can go for Georginio Wijnaldum, had seen him in one of the match, he looked shitey crrazy what he was doing on the pitch. The stats also look interesting just at 22.

Lucescu (Manager, Shakhtar Donetsk) at the post-match interview yesterday:
"I hope Mkhitaryan thinks carefully about what he's doing. Another side might not bring out the best in him like we have."
"Mkhitaryan plays for a side that competes annually for the championship, cup and Champions League. He should appreciate that"
"I'd understand his desire to move if he was leaving us for teams such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona."
"I encourage him to return to the club, nothing has happened between him and the management team & players."

With Hearts in administration and possibly worse still to come, Wilson could well wear a completely different shirt by the start of the season, but I wish him all the best and will be interesting to see whether next season will be a spring board for his career or will he just fade away to be an average SPL center-back.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Sakho, a France international, says he has been “flattered” by Liverpool’s apparent interest, but the ECHO understands the club are not targeting the 23-year-old.
Rodgers is also understood to have cooled interest in Swansea City captain Ashley Williams despite the interest earlier in the summer.
Reports continue to link the Reds with a move for the Wales captain, valued at £10m by the Swans, but their focus has moved to other targets.
And Sakho is not among them despite being quoted as saying Liverpool have expressed an interest in securing his services.
No Liverpool interest in Sakho or Williams, as we've "moved on to other targets" and the article again reaffirms that we've moved on from Papadopoulos as well, as the difference in valuations was too great.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Scouting system is key here. It basically defines how good they are. Our last scouting system went from Gomez to Llorente to Carroll last time. That's three different tiers. We also picked Downing over Mata... and apparently Gotze over Henderson. Let's just hope this scouting system is just as good as they're being touted as.
For us to lose interest in Papa and Sakho would mean we've targeted another list of players. Let's hope they're in the same tier as the other two. Not sure why, but I have a feeling we'd be going for Alder now that the talks between Bayer broke down which would still be very good as I rate Alder highly.

Not really. Shaktar just like every other club out there. Obviously they don't want to lose their key players and don't want them to go for cheap. They've already identified he wants to leave so now are trying to get into his head. Dortmund and Liverpool are showing a lot of interest with that said and he's still adamant on leaving. So Lucescu is basically just trying to start a bidding war between the two clubs [three if you count Tottenham, which I don't see being a likely bidder unless they sell Bale].
