Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
I read somewhere that there is bidding war going on between 2-3 clubs for shelvey, is it true by any chance? dont want him to leave permenantly but LFC may sell him while they will want to bring Mkhi

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
I admit, I wouldn't mind Shelvey leaving for a second. I aimlessly jumped on his hype bandwagon and now I'm happily off of it.
Still no resolution or concrete news on any transfer bar Luis Alberto who doesn't really catch my interest and never has.
Even if we don't get anyone, I wouldn't mind as I'm happy with this current squad, despite the lack of depth in some areas.
I miss LFC

Disappointed to see Shelvey being underrated here. I'm sure BR rates him a lot higher than some of you guys do. If we sell him, then we'll be missing out on a potentially really really good player. Don't think we will though.. a loan deal, perhaps.
In other news, Kolo officially joins the club.. takes the #4 jersey.

We're certainly not done with transfer business for the summer, but I'd rather Rodgers and LFC keep quiet on their plans to be honest.

I am not sure about what should we do with shelvey, read somewhere that some newspaper reported that LFC has accepted 6mi bid for him, no idea how true it is.
I think we should make a wise decision according to situation. If the club thinks that we need some extra cash now and they wish to immediately invest it somewhere else, i dont mind selling him. There is no doubt that the lad has immense of potential but we never know about the future. But I still would go for a loan deal unless there is some better plan about it. I think we have discussed this shelvey matter once before somewhere.

The Times, Guardian & Telegraph have all reported that we have accepted a 6m pounds bid for Jonjo. Now i guess it's upto Jonjo to agree terms with Swansea.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
If Shelvey does go to Swansea and Ince ends up moving that will basically cover Mignolet's fee and put us back at a net spend of 0.
Assuming we have the reported transfer kitty between £20m and £30m we'll still have a fairly sizable amount to spend this summer, not even counting potential funds raised by the sales of Spearing, Assaidi, and bigger names such as Downing or Reina (nevermind the elephant in the room)... we could potentially still have the ability to make a real splash in this market even after making 4 signings.

There were reports of a turn around in the Ince saga. Although nothing all too reliable but on Blackpool based newspapers. But in anyway if that becomes true the Shelvey sale would finance for the Ince deal & there would be some left over cash in changes.
The idea was proposed in the thought that our Atsu deal has fallen through. Anyhow it was i guess just a suggestion considering our well recorded interested in Ince.

Liverpool have accepted a bid of £6m from Swansea for England international Jonjo Shelvey

We'll only have one marquee signing in my opinion. That possibly being Mkhitaryan. Then we'll buy one defender [Alder?]. Don't think we'll splash too much cash, honestly. I'm aware with the new Standard Charter deal and new PL TV sponsorship, but think majority of that cash will go to expanding Anfield and then just on running costs.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
Allen is a far better player than Shelvey. We saw glimpses of that within the first month of his play. Not his fault BR decided to play him as a defensive midfielder, burn him out and give Gerrard a role to which would render his best role useless.
Lets look at Allen's capabilities from what we saw from Swansea and his best games within Liverpool.
6m for Shelvey is a price we should be grateful for. Meanwhile Adam Maher went to PSV for 2.5 and albeit a far better talent.

"I still think another attacking, creative player, and depending on what goes out of the club - because naturally there might be one or two players who need to go out and play more - then we'll need to fill those areas that have been vacated.
"Certainly another attacking player will really benefit us, and probably another defender. We'll see how it develops over the course of the next few months."
Rodgers quotes himself from lfc.com
Mkhitaryan / Eriksen
CBs???

He is not "far better". No chance.
Allen was our best player in his first three months here, but there is no way he is worth 15m pounds. He also excelled in the DM role until he was found out [which he was playing for those 3 months next to Gerrard]. Rodgers did nothing wrong to play Allen there. He was the best fit to what Rodgers had at his disposal.
Getting 6m for Jonjo is stupid considering what we've paid for in the past. We paid 15m in "potential" Allen and 16m on Henderson for potential too.
Shelvey is still one of our best talents at the club, regardless if people continue to knee jerk his inconsistent glimpses in the last 6 months of last season. I would rather him loaned out than selling him for a joke of a bid.
Maher also went for 6.5m euros; not 2.5m. And the only reason he went for so cheap was because the Dutch market is A LOT cheaper than the Premier League market.

Eriksen is off the books for us. So am curious if we fail in Mkhitaryan who would would our back up be.
Instead of CB we might even go for a LB!

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2013
No way no need for a LB. Enrique is fine.
Spearing linked with Wigan.
Carroll and Shelvey = 20+ million.

Wasn't talking about replacing Enrique but rather a back up & adding competition in that position which is very necessary!
