Juventus vs Bayern Munich
Juventus - Bayern Munich
April 10, 2013
Juventus Stadium - Turin, Italy
Referee: Carlos Velasco
Introduction:
Juventus played Bayern Munich, in the first leg on Apr 3rd 2013. Too many football fans surprise, Juventus were tactically outclassed and outplayed against a superior Bayern Munich side. The first leg result ended Bayern 2-0 Juventus, but the score could have been so much more had Bayern been more clinical in front of goal. Juve will need to overturn a 2-0 deficit at home tomorrow, if they have any chance of qualifying.
Team news:
Juventus- Juventus are coming into the match with a 2-1 victory over Pescara, both goals coming from Mirko Vucinic. Martin Caceres returns, but Arturo Vidal and Stephan Lichtsteiner miss out. Vidal and Lichtsteiner picked up yellow cards in Munich and are therefore suspended, while Nicolas Anelka, Simone Pepe, Sebastian Giovinco and Nicklas Bendtner are sidelined.
Juventus Called up players -1 Buffon, 3 Chiellini, 4 Caceres, 6 Pogba, 8 Marchisio, 9 Vucinic, 11 De Ceglie, 13 Peluso, 15 Barzagli, 19 Bonucci, 20 Padoin, 21 Pirlo, 22 Asamoah, 24 Giaccherini, 27 Quagliarella, 30 Storari, 32 Matri, 33 Isla, 34 Rubinho
Bayern Munich- Bayern Munich are coming into the match with a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, but that win allowed them to win the Bundesliga, with 6 matches remaining to go. The only injury worry for Jupp Heynckes will be Toni Kroos, who picked up a knock in the first leg and is ruled out for the season. Javi Martinez will be back from suspension for the second leg and should replace Luis Gustavo in midfield.
Bayern Munich called up players - TBD.
Players to watch out for:
Andrea Pirlo (Juventus)
The absence of Arturo Vidal will be a big blow for the Bianconeri but they still have one of the best players of his generation in the form of the 33-year-old. He was well shackled in the first leg as Bayern gave him no time to pick out passes and dictate play, but if coach Conte can find a way to make him more influential, it could be a way of getting back into the tie.

Dante (Bayern Munich)
Bayern might start on the back foot, especially since they’re playing away and have a two-goal lead already. With this in mind, their Brazilian rock will be the most crucial figure in keeping Juventus’ attacks at bay and ensuring that the Bavarians inch closer to their dreams of a treble.
(via theHardtackle)
Probable Lineups:
Juventus
Bayern Munich
Prediction:
Juventus 2-1 Bayern Munich
I'll be rooting for Bayern, hopefully they win. But I could very well see Juventus getting a hard earned victory but not enough to seem them through.

Yeah, if you want any chance, you need to start a player more comfortable in the attacking phase of the game. That's why I would start Isla over Padoin tbh.
And average Serie a players always get torn apart in CL.

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
Juventus honestly have a chance.. But this time they need to bring their A game.
Vucinic HAS to play. No gio either
They need to play high pressure and press bayern for 90 minutes.. Juventus have the athleticism and organization to press bayern successfully imo

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
Would have been better for Juve if they had an away goal going into this game. That way they could have gone for the goal they needed at home. However again, being at home mean they can still go for it. It's possible, however I think Bayern will prevail in the end.

I actually think Juventus will win but sadly for them not enough to go though.
Going for 2-1 on the night and 3-2 to Bayern on aggregate.

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
Plz dont start Padoin, he'll get violated by Ribery. If Caceres is fit then he should start.
Overall im hoping for Juve to win, also im hoping the atmosphere in Torino to be very intimidating, to the point where Bayern cant string 4 passes together
Need to show them dat Italian grinta Juve

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
If Juve had Vidal, I'd put it down as a pretty confident win for Juve.
But no Vidal means the midfield is going to suffer.
Kroos missing does help... but considering the lead Bayern have, if Bayern scores the tie is pretty much done for.
I predict a 1-1.

Vidal will be missed, but Juve have a perfectly good replacement for him, Pogba should not be underestimated as he has been one of the finest young midfielders in Serie A, he has also been in red hot form

Bayern need to score just one goal to force Juventus to need to score 4 times. And if they play anything like the first leg, they'll get that goal.

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
I don't doubt Pogba's quality, but Serie A is not CL football. I know there are some young guys with plenty of CL experience, Pogba not being one of them.El Shaarawy wrote:Sushi Master wrote:If Juve had Vidal, I'd put it down as a pretty confident win for Juve.

Vidal is a monster of a player who to me has no direct replacement. He will be missed.

I wouldn't use rosoneri23's comment, (he has definitely lost it since we rule Italy these days) as a measure for Milan fans, Inter fans on the other hand definitely want us out tho...

I am sorry but its absolutely naive to expect something like that from fans of rival teams.

Re: Juventus vs Bayern Munich
Think it's unlikely that Pirlo will be able to have an impact unless the game gets out of reach
Expect him to get shackled by Bayern pressing until they nick the goal they need

The year of our treble: "Inter isn't Italian"
.....until word got out that Serie A needed us to win to keep the 4th CL spot, then all of a sudden people claimed we were flying the flag for Italy
