I'm still not relaxing, but I feel more confident now that the BBC are also running the story.
Anyway, found this on the Guardian:
The Guardian wrote:
Chelsea are monitoring Samir Nasri's situation at Arsenal and could challenge Manchester United for the France international's signature should their pursuit of alternative targets, principally Tottenham Hotspur's Luka Modric, be frustrated.
Arsenal have, as yet, failed to convince Nasri to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium, where the midfielder, a £15.8m signing from Marseille in 2008, has entered the final 12 months of his contract. United are expected to make a formal offer for the 24-year-old, with Arsenal wary of allowing the player to wind down his contract and leave for nothing next summer, but Chelsea are also actively considering stepping up their own interest given the Frenchman's anticipated availability.
Nasri is not yet considered a front–line target by Chelsea's new manager, André Villas-Boas – who intends to scrutinise his squad when the players return to pre-season training next week – with the club having targeted Modric as their preferred creative midfield recruit. An opening bid of about £22m has been rejected by Spurs, and the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, who will meet Modric's representatives next week, has made clear his objections to the prospect of losing the Croatia international. Should that pursuit continue to be blocked, Chelsea will switch their attentions more concertedly towards Nasri.
The Frenchman is apparently undecided as to where his future lies, but is well aware that personal terms will be more lucrative at United and Chelsea. There is an acceptance, too, at Arsenal, who had hoped to tie the player down to a new five-year contract worth £90,000 a week, that they cannot compete financially with the midfielder's other suitors. Arsenal's position is further complicated by the possibility that Manchester City may enter the fray later in the summer, particularly if they fail to secure Udinese's highly-rated Chilean winger Alexis Sánchez.
I'm sure Gil would be happy with that signing.
Naturally, I'd rather he didn't go to Chelsea but I can't help but entertain the thought of a cash + Sturridge swap for him.

RVP on Radio1 NL "we are talking yes, but I want to win trophies and if I don't think i can, I won't sign - this summer will decide"
This quote has been circulating around today in various forums, twitter etc., however I don't think it's real because I can't find the quotes anywhere(as in searching google and stuff, there's not much mentioned). Could be some made up BS, so don't fret yet, but I thought it would be interesting to post.

about nasri, he hasnt spoken with wenger at all, and wenger is waiting for him to return from holidays
so next week is crucial

If we're really interested in Nasri and he wants to come here you should ask for Sturridge + £20m.

Honestly? It wouldn't surprise me if van Persie did say something like that, though it would hurt to hear it from such a loyal and loved player.
But, I'm thinking they were taken out of context as well.
By the same token, look at this hilariously incorrect extract from the Sun:
CESC FABREGAS is desperate to seal his £37million switch to Barcelona before Arsenal return to pre-season training on Tuesday.
And the Gunners have already lined up 16-year-old Hector Bellerin - another product of the Barca academy - to start Arsène Wenger's latest rebuilding project.
How can we line up a move for Hector Bellerin when he signed a week ago?
If we're really interested in Nasri and he wants to come here you should ask for Sturridge + £20m.
Definitely.
Likewise, if City's interest is serious we should ask for Adam Johnson as part of the deal.

Apparently, should join City for pre-season training by Tuesday, which would mean the deal will be finalized on Monday. Hope it's BS, but who knows at this moment in time

If he's going to go, the sooner the better.
Still hoping for an Eboue-esque miracle and Clichy signing a new contract.

Previously rumored to be heading for Chelsea, Anderlecht's Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku was linked to Arsenal earlier this week, with the North London club rumored to be engineering a £17.9 million offer. Club manager Arsene Wenger is said to have been keeping tabs on the Belgian international for nearly a year-and-a-half.

Lets hope that goes well.. I am not for the idea of us buying young players and developing them, if they don't show loyalty in return.. It sets a bad precedent.. Cesc to Barca saga is bad enough..

Re: The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
@JamieSanderson: El Mundo say Barça offered £34m for Cesc, but only £29m cash, because they believe Arsenal owe them £6m for Toral + Bellerín.
We paid 750,000 euros for Toral and Bellerín. For everyone's sake I hope this isn't true, because if it is, it's a pretty bad reflection on Barcelona.

The media would probably praise their fortitude and their defence of their principles, while simultaneously criticizing us for 'holding Cesc hostage' and 'stealing' Barca players. Well, at least goal.com would...srigooner wrote:Wow. I would so love this to be true. And then, I'd like some media to RIP them apart for being so classless.

they do it because A.wenger never buy players which they link us with. Only at a very late stage they get the news. So they r pissed off at arsene. :p other clubs buy most of players which media links them with.

Now, the Daily Mail reports that new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has told his top scouts that he wants Cahill to partner John Terry at the heart of his defence and the Blues are readying a £17 million bid for the 25-year-old.
Wenger has pulled out, since many city and chelsea have started to bid.
