The US will play the Republic of Ireland again on Saturday night, then play China three times in December to close out the year.

Less than two goals per game to break the record for Wambach and Morgan. I think they could pull it off.

Also Wambach only needs 10 more goals to overtake the great Mia Hamm as the US top scorer. She has 148 Shocked

I'm still shocked we even conceded goals in the last World Cup; I was also amazed how we won the 2007 WC with ZERO goals conceded, and the golden ball still went to Mata.

At least FIFA is as flair-biased against proper workmanship with women as they are with men. Birgit Prinz should've won the thing at least once.

Or snubbed because the others all won something or stood out more.

Continue to ignore the nasty play Canada used as well... it totally doesn't undermine any opinion you give.

Still feel for Canada.

Amazing game , I was on the verge of actually respecting women's football and then out of nowhere that call.

I mean how do you as a referee rationalize making a six second call in the middle of a world cup semi-final with people playing hard and passionately, Handball call was BS as well.

It's one thing to call a foul wrong, fail to give a card, miss something

But to actually look to implement that archaic, redundant, irrelevant rule in a game of this magnitude is a absolute disgrace. It's a insult to professionals who have played the game and understand the way games are officiated.

I'm not going to pretend Canada weren't screwed in the end, but let's not forget that they were playing rugby and probably could have gotten 2 red cards Laughing who knows how it could have ended if those were given.

Anyway, congrats to Alex Morgan! I hope she wins it!!!

guess winning a bronze medal doesn't count as winning anything?, don't know how carrying a entire team wouldn't constitute as standing out, she was the best player in the tournament. she absolutely got snubbed for speaking out, FIFA can't bestow someone with there great honour of player of the year when they have questioned there all mighty perfect officials

Unless you want to give the status based on relative importance to team, I'm not sure how you can claim she was unequivocally the best player in the tournament. Wambach matched her on goals, and Morgan was more involved in creation; an argument could be made for any of the three topping the Olympics, and considering two of them won gold, and one didn't, I don't think it's a difficult choice.

canada should of been in that gold game first of all, if not for horrible refereeing, and that wombach has a lot more talent to play with, Morgan being the obvious example.

Sinclair is the Luis Suarez of Canada to put things into prospective for you a liverpool fan. She does a lot more with a lot less around her

Well, there's arguments to be made about the refereeing, as shown earlier in the thread, so I won't get into that again.

That was exactly my question though. I would call Suarez/Sinclair the most VALUABLE player of the PL/tournament, but I would need more than role within the team to call them best. Best for me isn't about relative position to teammates, but about performances on an objective level.

So should Suarez win the Ballon D'or because Ronaldo and Messi have players like iniesta and Ozil around them? hmm

This thread's about how well she's performing as a footballer... if you feel the need to share how high your standards are or how horny you are there are plenty of threads for that in the Off Topic area.
